Poll question: Who will stop the upward redistrubution of economic, political & cultural
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 12:55 AM by AP
power?

Which candidate has the best plan to create a short, fat pyramid, rather than the increasingly narrow, and tall pyramid of wealth and power?

1. Does anyone disagree that this is the most important issue in 2004?

3. I got that from Lisa Duggan's The Twilight of Equality...
...which I bought after hearing her interviewed on Tavis Smiley.

Everyone should read this book.

4. Yes, I disagree
Without civil liberties, all other issues are secondary.

5. without economic, political & cultural power...
...our civil liberties are little more than words on paper. We have to be able to enforce them.

That being said, why the HELL did JEdwards vote for the P.A.T.R.I.O.T Act?

6. Everybody voted for it except one person. About half of it was desperately
needed stuff to update investigative powers. The other half was stuff on the cusp which could be very bad if the AG used discretion imprudently, which is exactly what looks to be happening.

There's no line item veto for Senators.

(Am I right? Only one Senator voted against it, right? Feingold? Feingold's idea was that each state could set the floor for certain rights, which was impractical, no? Even Wellstone voted for it?)
