See my post on my mother's reaction. She is a staunch Repub and was insulted and angry that McCain is refusing to admit he is 72 and needs a VP with actual experience. She also, by the way, lives in a major urban area and called Palin "a country bumpkin". (Her words). There will be a urban/rural divide also.
I think we need to focus on McCain's judgement and why he didn't pick one of the many Repub women with experience, given he is 72.

But not with the idea that her education is irrelevant. Having nothing beyond a BA these days is not much of a qualification for a huge job like the Presidency. And her BA was in journalism, with an eye toward sports broadcasting.

You want to pretend this is equivalent to Hillary's graduating at the top of her class at Wellesley and going on to Harvard Law school? Give me a break. Of course education matters.
