25. Well, Bush's inability to balance his business budget...
... certainly turned out to be telling about his ability to balance the Federal budget (aka, the lack thereof).

But I am more likely to see the inability to balance something much smaller than the Federal budget as indicating they don't need to take on anything bigger, than to say that because a person has managed to balance a home budget means that they definitely can balance something bigger.

Just my opinion there.

I'll even say this, and I'm probably right. I think any housewife in this country likely can balance a budget better than Bush.

But that doesn't mean that "better" is good enough.

Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 08:18 AM by ocelot
Timmy spend the last year enthusiastically stroking McAncient, moved heaven and earth to get the RNC in Minnesota, got that embarrassing freeway bridge rebuilt before the convention-goers could see the mess, and then after teasing him and tempting him with the big VP prize, McAncient kicks him hard in the 'nads by picking Miss Mooseburger. And yet His Toolness sucks it up and goes on national teevee to tell us she can handle a federal budget because she can figure out how much toilet paper and Wonder Bread to buy every week. Timmy's acting like an abused spouse now, I think.

38. I hope this whole "dumb VP" schtick isn't just a distraction
while the repuke party machinery sneaks around the back and outflanks us. I suspect that it really is a distraction while they regroup behind the scenes to prepare for some smackdown... Although I wouldn't rule out the possibility that this is signaling a loss of control of their candidate and there will be a revolt within the party by the traditionalists during their convention (although the media would never show such, as much as they predicted and salivated over such happening at the Dem's convention). The moderates and core of their party have suffered heartburn as they watched (and allowed) the lunatic fringe, neocons, and ideologs to take over their party. But I blame them for continuing to support that nonsense without speaking up. They made their beds...

73. Didn't Raygun' young budget director say that the
federal budget was so complicated that they didn't know what they were doing? And he was a CPA, etc.

Palin isn't going to have clue.

85. I'm guessing that the voters, dim as they are at times,
will see through that one. Sheesh. Talk about desperation. McCain has exposed himself here as a relentlessly political animal, who is happy to put politics over country any time it suits his selfish interests: all this post-decision rationalizing and excuse-making just makes the Palin pick look worse.

90. I think we need to make a collection of these absurd statements and spin
Two days ago, I heard Bay Buchanan shout into her microphone that the fact that Palin's son will serve in Iraq gives her all the foreign relations credentials she needs.

And then there was the statement (I don't remember who made it) that since Alaska is next to Russia, this gives Palin foreign affairs expertise.
