Attack her as an extremist. Make it clear she's out of the mainstream
Sarah Palin doesn't believe that human activity contributes in any way to climate change. That's even at odds with McCainiac's position.

Sarah Palin doesn't believe in environmental protection of any kind.

Sarah Palin wants to outlaw abortion completely, even in cases of incest and rape.

Sarah Palin was a diehard Buchanan supporter.

Attack her on her complete lack of foreign policy experience:

Palin just got her passport last summer.

Palin has made comments about not having thought much about Iraq.

There's plenty to attack Palin on. Focusing on the baby bullshit will just engender sympathy for her. It's a losing proposition.

1. Very good advice!
As someone who lives in Anchorage and who runs into Sarah Palin on occassion, I'm completely blown away by the babygate stuff too. WOW.

Yes, it seems crazy that she was able to hide her pregnancy and not announce it until she was in her 5th (If I recall) month.. but she is extremely petite and like she said when she made it public "I wore a lot of big coats".

"Trooper-gate" is a huge issue (in Alaska anyway) .. "Baby-gate" though?! I realize that was transported over here from KOS or somewhere.. but it's a bogus story that should be dropped.

3. It will be difficult to challenge her on the abortion issue and on the war
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 05:09 AM by win_in_06
Because she has five children and gave birth to a child fully knowing he had downs syndrome.
Because she has been a commander in chief of soldiers and is the mother of an infantryman.

4. I completely disagree. In fact, that's ridiculous.
It will be no more difficult to attack her on her extreme views on choice than it would a father of five with a DS baby. And guess what? Joe Biden also has a son on his way to Iraq. I'm sorry, but if you think that the vast middle (particularly women) will give her a pass on her extremist views about abortion in cases of rape and incest, you're wrong.

6. Not so.
On the abortion issue, it is not about the choices she has made in her own life, but about the choices that she would deny other women concerning reproduction and control of their own bodies.

On her son going to war. So what. If she supports the conditions that get him there, then she needs to be held accountable as to why she would willingly put her own sons and those of other Americans at risk in a meat grinder and be willing to keep it going forever.

9. 3 years and this is the best you can do?
It wouldn't matter if she had 30 children.

She believes the government should be in charge of our reproductive freedoms. She would force rape and incest victims to carry their pregnancies to term and go through childbirth, under government duress.

She's an extremist and having babies does not inoculate her from that simple truth.

10. "She's an extremist and having babies does not inoculate her from that simple truth"
Thank you. Such a perfect statement.

I heard Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Hardball the other day say something like "it's such a cynical move because evidently McCain thinks all women will vote for an extremist just because we all have the same parts." Great line (she delivered it much better than it sounds).

5. If McCain died in the first weeks in office, Palin would probably pick Huckabee as VP
Throw that possible scenario out there, and that ought to scare the bejeezuz out of anyone with half a brain. The SCOTUS appointments would be insane. Palin is the ultimate extremist.

7. I doubt the Obama team is planning to go there, even if bloggers can't stop discussing it
Obama's statement advising the media to simply compare her record to Biden's indicates that they aren't falling for the shiny objects being dangled. Team Obama is hip to the tricks everyone keeps trying to use to trip them up.

impulsiveness in selecting her are the important issues.

13. Be fair. She didn't need a passport
Russia was right next door, so she got all the foreign policy experience she
needed right there in Alaska. She looked across the Bering Strait and saw
Medvedev's soul (or something).

I know, because I heard that some idiot from POX keeps saying so.

19. k & a BIG r!!!
This woman *went out of her way* to support a near-Fascist candidate FFS!!! Let's say that again:

This is the person who could be one elderly man's heartbeat away from becoming the most powerful person in the world; and she went against her party to support a far-right bigot who has defended LePen, and who even seems to think Hitler wasn't as bad as all that.

Terrifying. Truly terrifying.

And all some people seem able to think of is whether she might have covered up her daughter's pregnancy!

What is more important - sex, or support for fascism?
