To paraphrase Shakespeare, Bush protests too much: "'We'll prevail"
TWO different stories, Bush prevailing in both. That's a whole heapin' helpin' of prevailin,' cowboy.

Bush was most animated when he was asked about how he would react to losing his last campaign. He was asked if he and his wife, Laura, hadn't said that they would be fine if Kerry wins. Bush interrupted sharply. "I have never said that," he insisted. In a June interview, Laura Bush said she has "of course" considered the possibility that there might not be a second term. "No matter what happens in the election," she said, "we'll be OK."

'We'll prevail'

"I have not said that," Bush repeated, "because I am not going to come in second. We'll prevail. I don't think that way. I believe we're going to win."

Asked if his passion for this campaign matches the way he approached the hard-fought 2000 campaign, he said, "Absolutely."

"America faces a great threat, and our government is doing everything in its power to confront and defeat that threat. We have made great progress against the terrorists who seek to harm our nation. We have made great progress in protecting our homeland.

In all that lies ahead, America will stay focused and determined, and we will prevail."

1. Equating himself with America or
rhetorically challenged? All I know is that his daddy the same thing, equally pathetically: "I'm a winner, I can feel it." And then Bill Clinton kicked his pathetic ass.
