If Obama's education topped off with a 4 year degree from Occidental, I'd have a problem with that too.

1. Wrong. Any of the cultural studies majors is substantially more taxing than journalism....

And I'm the LAST person to tout cultural studies (as an academic endeavor).

EDIT: I'm with the spirit of what you say, it's just not the best specific example.

4. Ah, I see we have a cultural studies snob here.
Journalism is plenty taxing, depending on where you study it.

The top journalism schools offer as challenging and intellectually rigorous a program as any other program at any other top school.

Of course, the University of Idaho isn't known as a top journalism school.

8. Your reading abilities are approximately what I expect of a journalism major....
As to the fact that journalism majors are dim as an aggregate, one need only consult the ETS' GRE-scores-by-major.

(still giggling over being called a cultural studies snob - I gotta show that to my friends!)

3. He transferred from Occidental to the Ivy League -- Columbia.
And he majored in political science.

Then he went to Harvard Law school where he was editor of the Law Review -- the highest honor you can get there. And he taught Constitutional Law at another top school, The University of Chicago.

While she aimed her sights at being a sports broadcaster, until that didn't work out.

6. That's because "the gentleman's C" still exists.
It can be a big mistake to assume people are smart because they have an Ivy League degree, too.

9. I wouldn't have
if his years after Occidental showed extraordinary judgment, successful experience in public service, and he was on the right side on the issues. But, then again, he wouldn't be who we see today if his education stopped after Occidental. But, my point is, I wouldn't question someone who showed himself to be a brilliant, knowledgeable candidate just because his educational resume was smaller than that of modern presidential candidates.
