Should Dean not win the nomination....
If Dean should not win the nomination (and I'm assuming it will be Clark, so don't flame me), I will be the first to go out to my car and put Clark bumperstickers over my Dean ones (leaving my ABB '04 sticker untouched). I will then put a Clark sign up in my yard to replace the Dean one. Then I will contact every person I know to urge them to support the General. Then I will hit the streets in Oregon, Arizona, WI, or Florida (i hate spelling that WI state), or wherever my job/internship sends me and register new democrats so we can have a record turnout.

My call to you is this...Do whatever it takes to win the nomination for your guy, but come nomination time, I expect every one of you to join me and the others in the streets and work your butt's off for OUR candidate.

Go out and register new voters!!

Yaron

3. We could nominate a tea cozy and I'd vote for it.
However I'm supporting Dean with meetups and fundraising. Those 1500 site conference calls rock. Anybody else in on the New Years call with the Gores and Dean?

12. Yes, hubby and I attended one
of several here in Sacramento, CA. It was great, had a good turn out, few people drove in from other places, some as far as 40-50 min drive. Dean has a lot of supporters in this area.

14. we had about 20-25 people in a home in Galveston,
when only about 5 had signed up!LOL! I think 4 of them were new to the campaign (had been quiet supports, but hadn't been to any meetings til then). The rest of us were regulars.... been to NH, going to Iowa, standing on street corners holding up signs, etc. It's nice to see the mix of old and new, showing increasing support and steadfast support!

4. That is quite a leap.
It's clear you see DU through your prism as do I.

I don't agree with what you just posted and believe it to be disrespectful to both democratic candidates you felt you had to call out.

IMO, this would best not be done.

19. Lieberman supporters will not vote for Bush in any major number
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 03:15 AM by Bombtrack
maybe like 5 percent of them will.

Lieberman is a died in the wool democrat, and his supporters aren't right-wingers

I won't vote for Dean if he gets the nomination but I won't stay home or vote for Bush. I'll go to the polls to vote for federal and state offices and whatever propositions/refferendums on the ballot. But I won't vote in the presidential column.

He's the only democratic candidate I wouldn't vote for by the way

24. No, I just don't vote for people I hate
If Bush is competative in my state and has a chance to win my state, the GOP is winning in a landslide anyway.

Although the annoying supporters of Dean who accuse his critics of being republicans or liking republicans because they dare to not like Dean is a big reason he is the most hated democratic president or presidential candidate by democrats since LBJ

25. Not being decided, myself
I agree that supporters of any candidate accuse their critics of being republicans is a turn off -- and one reason I have yet to commit to any candidate.

I have not commited AGAINST any candidate.

In a two horse race, a no-vote is a statistical half vote for Bush. That is a fact, not an accusation of being Republican.

I am not sure if you were implying that B> I was a Dean suporter, or B> calling you a Republican, but I was doing neither.

I was calling on your comment because, frankly, not voting for whomevwer the candidate is equating your disapproval of both Bush and the Democratic candidate. I find it hard to believe that someone active enough and interested enough in politics to participate in a forum like this would find ANY Democratic candidate equal to or less than Bush.

I am calling you on it because, inherently, I expect you, as someone who is active and interested in politics, to know that the approach you mention is wrong. I am crediting you for having the wisdom to see the error in your stated logic.

27. no it is not a half-vote for Bush
I'm registered in Massachusetts, If in the week before the election and Dean is the nominee, and Massachusetts is a swingstate, I know enough about politics to know that that means it's over for democrats anyway.

I'm not going to make it worse for myself, and give myself anymore anguish by voting for a person I consider a worthless, arrogant, lying coward like Howard Dean.

I may be closer politically to him than Bush, but that doesn't mean I like him as a person more than Bush.

28. thats fine it is a free country
Don;t vote. Vote for Bush. Vote for LaRouche. I don;t give a damn. I was trying to giver you the benefit of the doubt.

Statisitcally speaking, a-non vote is a half vote for both candidates. Like it. Don't like it, but don't argue about it.

I am glad you live in MA, because as you do live in a heavily Democratic state, and therefore I need not waste time teaching you statistics or arguing with you that a roll of duct tape deserves a vote over bush, and likely a roll of duct tape would not respond in national emergencies as well as Dean.

This whole discussion is obviously a waste of time.

Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 11:38 AM by w4rma
you will NOT be voting Democrat in the general election if that is your attitude.

And even if he did win, the attitude you are trying to promote of "my candidate or another Party" would doom DK in the general election.

6. If Dean (Ugh!) Wins The Nod
I will make up my own slogan for him... Okay, I've already got one... and my slogan will be my revenge becasuse I know everyone will think it's silly...

My slogan would be "Keen for Dean". :)

But it's still to soon for me to be ABB because I want the candidates to woo me.

11. Even if the nominee is - - - Lieberman I'd work the General election
Dean is my first choice.

Clark is my second choice.

All of them are fantastic.

Well, maybe Lieberman is not exactly fantastic but even he'd be far, far better than four more years of w.

22. Yeah, but let's hope it doesn't come to that ...
I'm just so tired of Joe's constant exagerations about the other candidates. He was on 'This Week' last Sunday, and he couldn't open his mouth without saying something not-quite-true.

He is simply inflamatory all the time. I hate that in Repubs, why would I want it in a Dem?

And he has no chance, so I'm not worried.

In the meantime, although I'm a fervent Dean supporter, I'm going to send a few bucks to Kucinich. I think ihe provides an important voice in the process.

Werd up. I am a Democrat first and foremost. I will do my damnedest to get whoever the Democratic nominee is into the White House.

As Democrats always do, we win if we all pull together. Remember, we outnumber the Republicans.

Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 11:19 AM by TexasSissy
I view him as too similar to Bush. I don't trust him or believe him. A vote for him, to me, would be almost the same as a vote for Bush.

But I will vote for Kerry or anyone else who is not Bush.
