Sarah Palin- one theory
We have heard a lot of things. My take is that they did it to get the foot soldiers out. They have no ground attack and they know it. I just returned from the Gwinnett County Obama hdqtrs. Now this is in GA. and is the most republican county probably in the country. There were at least 100 volunteers there. This never happens in Ga. At this late date he is still trying to solidify his base. They knew they were going down. He had no other choice. Everyone let's double our efforts and let's register people.

1. This bunch has consolidated their power and is willing to go back
underground for a while and let the Democrats take the heat and clean up the most obvious messes. They've done it before.

2. There is no question that is the reason
The evangelicals are to Republicans what Unions are to us. They hand out literature, make phone calls and drive people to the polls.

Most of them were going to stay home this election cycle, this as the pundits put it "energizes the base" or in otherwords ... gets the workers out

3. Mitt Romney- one theory = too many houses, too many millions
In this theory, McCain had already picked Mitt Romney before the "houses"
and his "5 million dolars" blunders caught America's full attention. The
Dems knew Romney was the pick, and they knew he had more houses and millions
than McCain. So they attacked to make McCain's VP pick dead in the water.

Well, it not only worked, it really worked. McCain dumped Romney at the last minute!

The law of unintended consequences has yet to fully play out, of course.

4. We're neighbors
I need to get involved. Work and a personal situation are crushing me right at the minute ... but I can probably liberate a few hours a week.
