Has anyone here actually participated in a caucus?
I did in 1988 in Colorado.

Who else?

1. Texas, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1992, 1998, and this year, too.
I went to the state conventions in 82, 86, and 98. It's harder to make the cut in an election year. I highly recommend it.

Hmmm, seems I've been slacking the last few years--just two convention since becoming a dad. I didn't do the last two presidential campaigns either. Time to get active and be a ding-dang role model.

2. Iowa--every one of 'em...
...and supported:

1972 Shirley Chisholm (voted for George McGovern)
1976 Fred Harris and Morris Udall (voted for Eugene McCarthy)
1980 Edward Kennedy (campaigned for John Anderson but voted for Jimmy Carter)
1984 Alan Cranston (voted for Walter Mondale)
1988 Paul Simon (voted for Michael Dukakis)
1992 Tom Harkin (voted for Bill Clinton)
1996 (actually I don't remember the caucus, but I don't think I missed one; voted for Bill Clinton)
2000 Bill Bradley (voted for Al Gore)

8. Not even a close call!
I'm doing my best to help produce an Iowa Surprise for Kucinich, and Kerry is probably my second choice. Could have been Dean last spring, but not lately. My third choice is up for grabs, including Dean.

In recent days some Dean supporters have urged me to go their way if/when Dennis isn't viable in my caucus. I don't think I need to worry about that, and I'm put off by their claim that "antiwar" Dean is the automatic second choice for Kucinich supporters. That's far from clear, and his repeated claims to have been "the only" opponent of the Iraq war produce negative reaction from everyone else. Even related to some who voted for the IWR, it's a phony claim and the wrong litmus test.

Jesse Jackson, Texas, our whole caucus went for him unanimously.

7. Nice to hear from all of you.
Too bad that we don't have more caucus participants here.

I didn't realize that Texas is a caucus state.

I'll be participating in the Kansas caucus this year.
