GOP: "Palin has more executive experience than Biden and Obama combined"
I cannot believe these people say it with straight faces, but that seems to be the talking point coming from all the GOPers appearing on the TV. How to respond?

2. That is so stupid. Then she has more executive experience than McCain.
Obama is showing his executive experience by the way he's run his campaign so far.

3. Executive experience as mayor of a town of 6,000?
Cut me a break! I lived in a town of 5,000 years ago. I know how the town meetings went and we were the county seat. Fishing was a huge topic.

4. Its true. They are both from the legislative branch. She's run a city and a state.
Executive experience. Not sure why anyone is arguing that.

12. Yes, but in saying so, they are saying the same thing about their OWN candidate.
If Palin has more "executive experience" than Obama and Biden, then she also has more than McCain.

"Executive experience" as mayor of Wasilla and less than half a term as governor of Alaska does not equal "ready for the White House".

28. Yup. But no one is questioning the experience of Biden OR McCain
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 06:08 PM by wlucinda
They have both been around long enough that America doesn't doubt their ability.

O and Palin are the newbies. And to attack her experience, subjects O to the "she's got more executive experience than the Dem POTUS candidate" rebuttal. Tactically, its a good move for them.

And that is why they picked a Gov since they went outside mainstream pols. If you are trying to change the game and going "new face" you have to be able to have a counter. And if he handn't gone with someone new, he'd be dead in the water after Biden was chosen.

Not saying she'll have any staying power, but it's been thought out well.

32. "Palin has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined"
Yep, that's picking on the experience of Joe Biden.

The GOP can't make that statement without looking stupid, regardless of the fact that it's a technical truth.

34. Yep. They can because its accurate. It's our job to diffuse it.
This is the same argument that keeps Senators, Senators, and moves Governors into the WH time and time again. We need to find a counter argument.

38. She WAS mayor. IS Governor.
And I'll stick by what I say. The debate has to turn away from Exec v Legislative, or we have to reframe it.

have been elected POTUS in modern times?
And why is it that more Govs have been elected? Could it be because no one counters the Executive vs Legislative experience argument with much of anything that sticks with the voters? I think so.

20. Because it's a stupid comment.
The Mayor of Melba, Idaho has more "executive experience" than McCain, Biden and Obama combined. Should we elect he/she the next president? :eyes:

40. As I said Biden and McCain cancel each other out because they are long time public servants
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 06:24 PM by wlucinda
The point of picking a gov was to bring in someone new with exec experience to counter Obamas newness. They were looking for BIG BUZZ so they went with a female Governor. New and Exec experience.

isn't a town, it's a high school. If she thinks being governor of alaska for 18 months makes her ready to be next in line for the white house, then she's sadly mistaken. that talking point won't hunt.

and wishful thinking at that. They just said that she is more experienced than their own candidate, she does not have a chance in the debates, Joe will destroy her.

22. There are two strong responses: 1. By that measure, she's more
qualified to be president than McCain, and 2. George Bush had more "executive" experience than she does and look where that got us.
