The Quota Party's Affirmative Action Hypocrisy
The Republican Party consistently whines about affirmative action, insisting that it's not about providing equal opportunity but is really all about "quotas." Yet, time and time again, this same party engages in exactly the twisted form of affirmative action - in fact, something that doesn't really qualify as affirmative action - that they falsely accuse the Democrats of practicing. When they need a black face or a female presence, they are the first to throw up the least qualified minority or woman, solely because they are a minority or female, as a token Trojan Horse for their anti-minority, anti-woman policies.

We saw it in Clarence Thomas and we're now seeing it in Sarah Palin, neither of whom were qualified for the positions the Republicans gave them and both of whom were elevated solely because of their race or gender. We all know, good and well, even though the press will never say it, that if Sarah Palin were Sam Palin, there is absolutely no way in hell that she would EVER be considered as a VP nominee. She's there because she's a woman. Plain and simple.
