Upside to Palin pick: Demoralizes McCain surrogates

Romney, Pawlenty, Hutchison, anyone else who was considered, they're all made to look like fools. They will not be out on the stump giving 100% now. Obama treated all the VP contenders with respect and courtesy (I'm assuming that whatever went down with Hillary, they were in continual negotiations over everything and she was ok with it), and his surrogates - Kerry, Richardson, Bill & Hillary (we hope), Bayh, Kaine, ... will come charging out. Nobody feels that dissed with Biden picked over them, not the case for Palin. Even the pundits who have to shill for her are going to know she's a featherweight. Also will demoralize anyone serious left in the party.

1. Wish this were so...

If the repukes who belong to each of the fringe RW wedge groups that make up their big tent had asserted themselves as individuals, the neocons would not have taken over their party. Instead, they chose to shut their traps, hold their noses, and go along with their president for the sake of "party unity", where dissension is not tolerated. They will do that this time unless some decide to sit home and try to reformulate for 2012 (a number "traditional" repukes have written on and off the past year about letting this election go in order to focus on rebuilding their party's brand).
