Some prominent Republicans -- including President Bush -- are using the word "exciting" to describe John McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (PAY'-lihn) to be his running mate.

In a statement, the president calls Palin "a proven reformer who is a wise steward of taxpayer dollars and champion for accountability in government."

Former Democrat-turned-independent Senator Joe Lieberman predicts that "the McCain-Palin ticket will appeal to voters across party lines."
