This Palin pick is the best thing that possibly could happen.
Seriously. Can you think of anyone WORSE he could have picked? Um...no.

A completely inexperienced ex-beauty pageant contestant that no one has ever heard of--with a 5-month-old child who will be neglected during the campaigning, drawing ire from the fundies. It's impossible to even take this seriously--it's like a bad joke.

I cannot conceive of a more damaging running mate. This is beautiful.

4. she helps him with his base
How she plays with everyone else -- and most people are just begninnig to pay attention -- is still a bit up in the air. I hope that she becomes the butt of late night jokes based on her inexperience.

But as for the idea that her having a five month old child will cause fundies to reject her, I think you're mistaken. Fundies are very schizophrenic about these things. They claim to be all about stay at home moms and homeschooling, but they put strong women (Thatcher, Phyllis Schlafly, etc) on platforms. Palin is very poplular amongst the politically active fundie crowd.

5. I would not bet the farm so soon.
First we need to see how the voters react to her. I think we will have a better idea when the Republican convention is over.

6. I never bet the farm...I'll continue to work to support Obama.
But really, it is highly, highly unlikely that Palin will win McCain any new votes. If anything, it will piss off the good ol' boys that make up his base.

He would have done much better to pick Romney, but I'm glad he didn't.

7. Don't the fundies, McCain's base scream that women should not be
in positions of power that they are below the man and should obey? That's what I kept hearing about Hillary running...

8. Baby Twig will now be neglected...
... they will plaster that poor child's face on every available peice of paper and make political theater out of "mommy"

Yeah, its that bad and its that low. McCain is desperate and a disgrace.
