Could Kerry be waiting for after the "staged" RNC convention before...
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 08:52 PM by coreystone
he starts do the the real "blasting"? Why give the air time for a whole week of media coverage of the RNC to develop and pound upon what MAY be some of the most powerful cards that Kerrey may have to play? It would seem to be more strategically sound to wait for the "LATE" Republican Convention to play its course, THEN, hammer upon the platform and agenda that Bush may allude to. There are three debates; I can't see Bush intellectually holding any ground to Kerrey. I have a difficult time thinking that Kerrey with all the broadbase Democratic leadership contributing to the strategies of this campaign, not being in posession of a bunch of trump cards.

Of course, I am only prognosticating the strategies of Kerrey, but, I do believe there will much more than we may be allowed to see at this time/

13. We need to dismiss the swiftboat wannabes..
I think that Kerry should just say something like: I served my country in Vietnam and I have the records to prove it. While there, I demonstrated my ability to lead.

What matters now, however, is not a war from 35 years ago but the war right now, where most of us don't know anymore why we went there in the first place and why we are still there.

What matters now is the livelihood of American citizens: their right to be secure in their homes, with adequate jobs, health care now and when they are old and weak.

4. I'd like to HOPE that the best blasting is yet to come
but I don't know. All of Kerry's "attacks" so far have had little effect, so it's gotta be something we haven't seen yet.

5. Absolutely
Kerry has already begun his political jujitsu regarding sbvt. There will be blowback. After the rnc convention--the gloves come off. But expect him to keep his best moves for october---don't wanna peak to early. I believe that W will get a small boost after next week and the media will harp on it. But bush has no moves to make other than sbvt----no jobs, no health care, no foreign policy, and now a spy in the dod? W is done as far as I'm concerned, don't let the media fool ya---their only trying to keep this interesting for ratings sake (whoring themselves). Just my humble opinion.

9. Self-inflicted
I think some of the bad news for Kerry has been self-inflicted on the SBVT issue. He went on the defensive, and started threatening TV stations and bookstores. He should've just shut up until the swift boat people had been checked out.

He's gotta go on the offensive, but it helps if you've got something newsy. Any suggestions?

10. IMHO I think Kerry has played it perfectly.
He has no control over the media and with the media's nose stuck up rove's crack---sbvt would have run its course no matter what. Maybe he could have come out on the attack a couple of days earlier--but sometimes you need to give people enough rope to hang themselves---which is what I believe has happened. No one believes these people except W's most hardcore supporters.

15. Ya think?
I'm watching the way the polls are moving in the states that the ad has played (WI, OH, PA). They make me nervous. Or do you think they'll reverse themselves?

18. The only poll that counts is on Nov. 2nd.
And if you haven't seen it yet look at this post. Kerry is already hitting hard.

8. Labor Day weekend!
Kerry will find a celebration somewhere and hold a rally. That will kick off the blast that will take him home to 1600.
Bill Clinton did this in 1992, he held a rally in the middle of an annual celebration in Independence, MO on Labor Day. The crowd was so big, it filled 6 square blocks in downtown Independence.

11. Actually it started tonight
but it is the anti-neocon members of the CIA who are doing it.

Remember, Joe Wilson is a big supporter of John Kerry.

12. Yes, Kerry wanted the entire month of August practically to
be dominated by the Slime Veteran ads before he begins his counter attack. Thus he loses the gains he was making with independents and veterans (most polls after DNC had Kerry tied with vets now he is running more than 15 points behind with them). Instead of being on the offensive in August against a president who has poor poll numbers on the economy, Iraq and overall job approval in a country which feels we are moving in the wrong direction--Kerry wanted the media to focus these liars claims about his military record, so that just after the RNC he could finally begin his own counter attack. Brilliant strategy, that explains why he didn't begin responding to these liars until they had more than two weeks of free media exposure.

14. Remember this: Everyday there's a Republican who just lost his job.
Or her job. Everyday there's a Republican losing his health insurance. Everyday there's a Republican that get's hit with the dire consequences of Bush policies.

And these people will either not vote, or vote Kerry ... Swift Boat or no Swift Boat.

All this bad news before the convention ... vastly increasing numbers of poor, substantially less health care, more outsourcing, more companies shutting down ... what are they gonna talk about? The roses the Iraqis are throwing at our feet? The torture at Abu Graib? The spy at the highest levels of the Defense Department? The prescription drug coverage that doesn't really exist? The education policy that is leaving more and more kids behind than ever before? Or maybe they'll talk about "Bin Laden Determined To Strike In U.S.?"
