1. Nice DLC avatar
Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 10:14 PM by WhoCountsTheVotes
hmm.

Don't the "free trade" neo-liberals of the DLC hate Gephardt for his pro-union, "protectionist" policies?

5. Gephardt can win and that will mean no draft
The draft is the #1 issue for me in 2004.

2. Oh boy!
So all that has to happen to stop Dean is...

...everyone but Clark and Dean drop out.

8. Ah, ferpetesake
the damn link on the very page you cited goes to a subsequent poll that has Dean even further ahead.

Hell, polls are stoopid and I take 'em with a huge grain of salt, but this is really stoopid.

Why do you people do this stuff?

10. That poll was conducted 12/8-12/10
Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 10:36 PM by _Jumper_
Dean's number have fallen since Saddam's capture. A recent poll found that Dean has lost almost one-sixth of his support.

11. And that poll of 12/10 has a LINK TO A SUBSEQUENT POLL
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Gore%20Boosts%20Dean%20December%202003.htm

on 12/11, yes, AFTER that one. .. that has Dean even further ahead. (I hope that link works - just a copy & paste right? Somebody PM me if there's a trick to linking.) Anyhow, on the very page you linked to in your original post there is a link to a LATER POLL. Read down, right before the chart.

As to your assertion that Dean's numbers have fallen, losing 1/6th of his support, etc., um, where's that from? Ain't from this poll. Is it the most recent poll from somewhere else? Is it comparing 2 polls, done by the same outfit, using the same methodology?

Look, any of us can go cherry-picking across polls and come up with anything we want, including probably that Lieberman is the hottest Dem. But you convince no one if you do this kind of stuff.

Polls are kinda fun, but they don't prove anything, especially if you only pluck the ones that support whatever you're trying to prove, with a blatant disregard for when and how they were done.

12. Things have changed since Dean's reaction to Saddam's capture...
...and his Bin Laden statement. Here is a link to the thread about Dean losing nearly one-sixth of his support:

but still don't know why you started a thread with the Dec. 10 poll - especiallly since Matt had already posted the most current one.

19. It is intended for those that fear a Dean nomination
This is the only poll I have seen that shows how Dean fares against other Democrats in head-to-head matchups. From this it is clear that only Clark and Gephardt are viable alternatives to Dean. That was the primary purpose of my post.

7. I agree, only Gephardt or Clark (more likely) can defeat Dean.
But I really think that will only happen if

1) Gephardt beats Dean is Iowa

or

2) Clark gets number 2 in NH and does better in the Feb primaries than Dean.
