The Palin choice is simple: McCain wants to attract disenchanted Clinton supporters.
Now I supported Clinton in the primary, and I gotta say: A 44 year-old woman with barely any executive experience but with some likely ethics issues, whose former claim to fame is a beauty queen, does not, to me, say "good representative of my gender."

Comprende, John?

The entire idea is single-minded and is doomed to fail.

3. LOL... I think it's more like Clinton supporters appreciate brilliant, capable women.
Palin is none of that.

The beauty pageant issue, however, presents a new wrinkle in our current discussion of women in politics. :P

2. I don't think it's that simple.
Palin does not share Hillary's positions an anything. In fact, most of her positions are directly opposite to Hillary's.

4. Yes, of course not! That's why it's a completely stupid idea.
If McCain wanted to do this correctly, he would have chosen an older woman with more of a political pedigree.

11. See I think she would have been a MUCH wiser choice.
I can actually see a few hard-core Clinton supporters leaning toward her.

But, nar, we have Miss Hollow Ideologist.

7. If it was just women

He would have gone for someone with experience. There are plenty of qualified Republicans (such as they can be) that could have taken the road. McCain got a good looking, smooth orator....a female white version of Obama without the compassion and depth of understanding.

This lady sures up radical Nazis, wise use freaks and any moderate Republican women now get a chance to vote for a female.

I don't care why this lady made it to the ticket, but we cant let her get into the w house

9. He got an attractive X'er, but that's not going to help him win the White House.
She won't distract voters from the aging, sometimes forgetful McCain. She's hollow and ideological. Neither of those are "en vogue" now. We desperately seek intelligence and practicality.

Palen is PALE.

8. only a moderate, capable woman
would actually draw Hillary supporters (as long as though Hillary supporters are at least pro-choice). Palin is neither.

Because the convention put that disgusting figment of the propagandists imagination to bed (re: disenchanted Clinton supporters)

18. I predicted over 3 months ago McCain would pick a woman VP
I just thought he'd pick a qualified one.

Props to DU poster "Seen the light" who floated Palin as a possibility. And also "Desert Rat" who predicted McCain's pick would be a female governor
