3. ANWR would be a huge givaway to companies like Halliburtan and KBR
they would get to build hundreds of miles of infrastructure on melting (former) permafrost. With a no bid contract on the taxpayer's dime. The oil companies aren't all that enthusiastic about ANWR because there isn't enough oil there to get excited about, and Repug politicians admit that it would just be a "symbolic defeat of liberalism", but to corporations like Halliburtan it's another decades long bonanza of taxpayer cash.
