He respects strong women. For sure he does, as evidenced by his passing up better qualified women such as Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Condi Rice for Sarah Palin, who is less qualified, but "a looker".

And, what's that you say, Palin is a former beauty queen?

Huh. Wonder if McCain will suggest she enter the Miss Buffalo Chip (topless) beauty pageant, as he did Cindy?

As a woman, I feel INSULTED by what McCain has done today.

To John McCain, we women are all little more than cheerleaders.

2. It's repulsive. Every woman should be pissed he picked her BECAUSE she's a woman.
Add that she's a creationist for good measure. He picked her as a prop to garner the women vote without any regard to her lack of accomplishments.

7. I always figured the first woman President..
would come to us as some right wing conservative, like a Margaret Thatcher. I hope McCain gets smacked down hard by this one. How cynical can you be picking this clearly unqualified and ill-prepared person as a running mate? I think even Dan Quayle had more going for him than this lady.

That's exactly how I feel. I'm offended. As I just said in another post ... the GOP finally puts a woman on the ticket and they choose someone who's qualified to be nothing more than a Trophy VP! They think women are so stupid that we'll vote for a vagina. :eyes:

8. She's just another cheerleader to him.
I am so angry that I'm almost in tears, watching cheerleaders introduce this man who will subsequently announce a nice-looking pair of ovaries as his running-mate.

It shows what how he really feels about women as his equal.

12. Only if Rep. Pete Sessions is in charge
Rep. Sessions held fundraiser at Vegas strip club.

The Washington Post reports that Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) held a fundraiser last year at a strip club in Las Vegas. The party was hosted by Monica Notzen, a “Republican consultant who plans parties like this for lawmakers.” In an interview last December, Sessions maintained that the events were a “burlesque show” and not a “strip club” because “she never gets naked.”

SESSIONS: That’s right, we do a Las Vegas fundraiser every year and not only raise money, but see Las Vegas. It’s a beautiful town.

Q:: Forty Deuce is a strip club.

SESSIONS: You know, I’ve never seen that. It is what I would call a burlesque show where there’s a woman who comes out and has a dress on… Uh, she never get’s naked. There’s no nudity, there’s no nudity in there.

As John Aravosis notes, Sessions “scolded Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake for forcing ‘their liberal values upon the rest of the country’ after their infamous 2004 Super Bowl halftime striptease.” According to federal disclosures, Sessions spent more than $5,000 at the club that night.

6. She's HOT, but is she ready to lead?
Maybe Obama can put together an ad with her strutting her stuff in the swimsuit and Paris Hilton in her burger commercial and ask people to vote for who is hotter.

18. I agree, but I thought the ad would be funny anyway.
It would be pretty amusing to have ads with her in the beauty pageant though.

I think McCain just hired her so she could take dictation.

He'll hire nothing but grumpy old men in his cabinet, so she'll liven things up a bit.

23. Yeah, I'm sorry. As a woman, I'm a bit touchy about this right now...
I'm young and I haven't experienced much personal sexism in my life, but this glaring example has just brought it all home. I don't agree with their policies, but KBH and Condi DESERVED this. Why were they passed over?

My humor is at a low point right now. I'm actually pretty sad.

15. I'm angry to the point of tears as well.
All week we saw these strong women representing our party as EQUALS.

Now we see McCain passing up qualified women in his party for a former beauty queen who was selected largely because she's non-threatening.

I just don't accept them as leaders anymore. Typical working Americans, women and minorities are obviously beneath contempt to them. They are reduced to cynical pandering. I hope more Americans will join me in rejecting this despicable act.

30. It is infuriating and sickening
Maybe KBH is not young enough for him? She has no resume to speak of. They picked her only b/c she's young and a former beauty queen who has 5 kids. A decoration. And they think women will fall for this cynical, disgusting attempt.

Someone on MSNBC was just saying that her being a mother of 5 will appeal to women everywhere, that she represents them. Sorry, no. This creationist no talent does not represent me.
