The Palin Ethics Scandal Is A Trap
We can't go after her on the ethics scandal involving her brother-in-law. Apparently he beat up her sister, and tasered the kids. If I were her, and that was my sister, I'd try to get him fired too, and millions of women can sympathize with that.

2. I'm sure the McCain people have looked into this issue already.
If this story was problematic, there is no way he would have picked her. They may be thugs, but they are not stupid...

3. Sorry but abuse of power is exactly what is wrong with the current administration
I don't care if the guy killed kittens in front of children for months you don't use your office to go after people. this ties her directly to the DOJ games bush has been playing and you better believe we will tie it around her neck like a 300 pound anchor.

12. You're right, but it still won't play.
If he abused the missus & tortured the kids (and I would have to see some REAL SOLID back-up for this charge) - public opinion will overwhelmingly decree that she did the right thing.

5. If He Did Beat Her and Tasered The Kids, Then Why Isn't He In Jail?
Or under arrest? That means that these allegations may not be true, and she has abused her power.

If this Governor cannot protect her sister and her kids, then how can she protect America?

6. so when she becomes VP she can use the Secret Service? Please

The fact is that she is using her office for personal use - justified or not. If she had a beef there is a court system.

She did exactly what Cheney would have done.

If it's her word against his, there are plenty of right wing men who will see it as the routine attack on men. Are there pictures?

16. I heard about this scandal when it broke
There was nothing at that time about tasing and beating when it broke. It was all a personal vendetta on behalf of her sister.

If he actually tased and beat people he'd be in jail.

If he actually tased and beat people the Public Safety Commissioner would not have refused to fire him.

If he actually tased and beat people the state party would not be flipping out about Palin's abuse of power.

If he actually tased and beat people the state legislature would not be talking impeachment.

19. Thank you! Agree 100%
This is classic spin at it's best. We're talking about domestic and child abuse that wasn't reported when it happened but is now flooding the MSM. :eyes:

18. But using her office is wrong period!!!
But as the governor she can't use her office to assist a family member.

Isn't that what Senator Stevens and his son are both accused of doing, using their offices to benefit another?

If it was wrong for Senator Stevens, it's wrong for Governor Palin, the reasons don't matter.

20. It is personal revenge. Having a personal grudge and using your office
to call a guy pressuring him to fire the bil is wrong. Rove has really lost it.

21. If he beat her sister and tasered the kids
Getting him fired was criminally under-reacting. She's saying he did that and all she did was get him fired!?

If my sister and her kids were being mis-treated or abused I'd go medieval on the guy's ass, then I'd call every authority and social service department I could think of, far before his employment was even relevant. I can't even imagine anyone just saying "well, I'll just get him fired".

23. That's what doesn't make sense.
She pushed for the Commish to fire her former brother-in-law; he refuses and she fires him. If he was abusing her family, report it. Call Child Services and have it investigated; at the very least make sure that there's proof of what he did. As of right now, there is no physical proof.

AK Gov. Says Staffer Pressed for Trooper's Firing

By Kate Klonick - August 13, 2008, 9:53PM

In a press conference this afternoon, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) conceded that someone inside her administration pressured the state's Department of Public Safety to fire State Trooper Mike Wooten, Palin's former brother-in-law, who is now embroiled in a bitter custody battle with Palin's sister.
