Sad, but Obama Team has only a few hours to NEGATIVELY DEFINE Palin -- or else our Women Vote
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 11:09 AM by Sensitivity
advantage is in trouble.

A lot of independent (and uninformed) women will vote McCain/Woman just for the dream of some way
to get a woman in the White House. Gender and nothing else matters to some of these women.

Palin pick has some other advantages:

1. She has been a populist -- no frill, give to people, fight for interest of her State
2. Re-establishes McCain's Maverick reputation
3. She is young enough to become the 1st Woman president after 8 years of White House experience
4. She is perfectly qualified to be "McCain's type of V.P" -- daily enquiring on the health of the President

It is painful, but Dems have to vigorously attack this pick before it picks up support from those Hillary voters who desperately want their dream of a woman in the White House and are willing to believe that McCain is an Independent.

2. Relax. Give the women of this country more credit than that......

Women make up 53% of voters. Why did Mondale/Ferraro only get 41% in 1984?

Because women don't vote with their vagina.

This is such a crass, obvious, patronizing political move that even low-information women voters will see it for what it is.

None whatever! You are totally right!

HRC and Biden at least ran for President themselves, and showed that they can get support for that proposition.

This bimbo has had it handed to her on a plate!

To have this position, you should at least make a run for it.

130. Not pro-life: Anti-abortion.
In journalism school we were taught not to use the term "pro-life" because there is no such thing. The people opposed to abortion might be pro the fetus/embryo's life, but they're not pro the mother's life. Therefore "anti-abortion" is a more accurate term.

Has ANYONE ever been elected president on the strength of their "fabulous" choice for Veep? This is a stunt and it looks like one. I'm not worried about the response of Obama's people. It didn't work for Mondale and Ferraro had tons of experience.

68. I know...I'm also forgetting how stupid we americans are...
While we're busy focusing on haircuts, affairs and all of that shit, the political monkeys are getting away with the real scandals...secret meetings with the oil industry, falsifying documents that they present to the UN.

All of this stupid crap gets in the way. Focusing on her extreme pro-life stance and some of her political decisions would be more effective (imo) than trying to make the risky move of focusing on her choice to work as a mom. It will be a huge turnoff to me if the dems go with that.

The Matanuska Milk Maid can't even run a Dairy Farm.. do you want this person negotiating with Terrorists?

Please...

Matanuska Maid Dairy closure
When the Alaska Creamery Board recommended closing Matanuska Maid Dairy, an unprofitable state-owned business, Palin objected, citing concern for the impact on dairy farmers and the fact that the dairy had just received $600,000 in state money. When Palin learned that only the Board of Agriculture and Conservation could appoint Creamery Board members, she simply replaced the entire membership of the Board of Agriculture and Conservation.<12><32> The new board, led by businesswoman Kristan Cole, reversed the decision to close the dairy.<32> The new board approved milk price increases offered by the dairy in an attempt to control fiscal losses, even though milk from Washington was already offered in Alaskan stores at lower prices.<33> In the end, the dairy was forced to close, and the state tried to sell the assets to pay off its debts but received no bids.<

106. Palin's lack of experience makes everything women like Hillary and Sandra Day O'Connor
have struggled to achieve.

Palin spent 12 years helping 6 or 7 other people manage a town that claims a population of 6,715 people in Alaska. I love small towns, but does Palin know anything else? She graduated from the U. of Idaho. Nothing wrong with that, but is her experience pretty much limited to Idaho/Alaska?

This reminds me of the Suzy Creamcheese song by Frank Zappa.

108. Just a moment,,,,
Seems a tad harsh on the women of our Party. Time for some real stats....you do understand that some so called Democrats, registered Democrats vote Republican in each election...in 2004- Bush redoux- that was 11% last I looked. Were those all women? I think not.
And if you take a look at this year's numbers, all twisted with reference to wild cats and former first ladies, you will see the number we may see vote McCain is very similar to that percentage that crosses over each election....
Just saying. Before we go after the women by gender block, let's look at Democrats and how many actually vote for Republicans each cycle. This is not new stuff.

No, wait--that's wrong. It was a desperate, insulting and borderline hilarious pick, and further evidence (if we needed any) that McCain is a political jellyfish of the lowest order. It's a craven attempt to shore up his appeal among anti-choice women, and that's all it is. McCain just blew his last chance with undecided indies of either gender--he's going full throttle for the Bush demographic; the other end of the deal is massive purging of African Americans from swing-state voter rolls. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
