DU9598 emailed this message: Republican Podium
"Good Evening!!! Where did you find the image of the podium for the R's in St. Paul? If that is the real podium, it is clear that the R's, including McCain, will have to stand on the stripes of our flag to give their speeches. That is an outrage - at least compared to having a few columns on the stage. Could you post this outrage, if that is actually their stage."

http://blog.4president.org/2008/2008/08/a-first-look-at-the-2008-republican-national-convention-podium.html

If you've not yet seen the pictures of the R's podium here's a couple. Digital renderings.

Have they found enough busses to roundup 10,000 attendees to take to the Xcel Energy Center? Last report they're having problems finding enough persons to look respectable. They might consider the local, county and state hoosegows - fitting.

1. Looks like they'll be standing on a reflection of the backdrop
...which is probably a digital screen and will not have the flag on it all the time, but even if it did, they're not standing on the flag. So no big deal.

7. Gee, I wonder if that flag is big enough.
Why didn't they just cover the entire interior, the walls and the floors, with one big American flag?

So typical of them. Like THEY own the American Flag.

8. If we were Republicans we wouldn't care whether or not this was a legitimate offense
we would use it because we could make it sound like one.

just sayin'.

9. Too busy! Eyes go up and don't center on speaker unless
they change the backdrop. Dems did it right.
The speaker walked out on to an island where they were not
inundated by any clutter.

10. I take it Albert Speer designed it.
I assume Leni Rifenstahl is filming it. Seriously, that set screams "Fascism." Who is the key note speaker? I'm going with Ilsa.

11. Looks like the Repukes are true to form ...
I bet there's a camera in the rigging which will provide the overhead shot, and the reflective surface of the platform will allow the cameraman to be able to get all the shots up the skirts of all the hot broads ... including the "beauty queen" VP potential pick ...
