Just talked to my Repuke friend

She said she didn't like Obama because "there's just something about him." I pressed for more info, and she said, "It's not that he's black - there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way!" She also commented that Barack's mother "was a very strange person." WHAT?? Because she was a free thinker who took an interest in other cultures?

Oh yes - it's because he's black. There's just no reaching some people. I remember her saying dreamily in 2001 that Bush didn't look like he'd aged at all - I snapped, "That's because he doesn't do anything but exercise!"

We both grew up in small town Kansas - she in Douglass and I in El Dorado, home of Barack's grandparents. Somehow I managed to escape the small-mindedness of that environment. It's funny - her mother is a staunch Democrat (and Hillary supporter) - I'd be interested in finding out whether she'll vote for Barack or not.

3. I talked to a woman today who said Obama's to 'nicey-nice" with our enemies.

She didn't like McCain either. I told her well thanks to * we've got a whole new generation of people who oppose this country. She agreed with me. Maybe she'll vote 3rd party. Then again she might hold her nose and vote for Johnny.
