Somebody else spoke in front of Greek colonnades many years ago...

And didn't that happen 45 years ago tomorrow?

Hmm, I wonder if that has anything to do with Obama's Invesco stage design.

;)

4. Thanks.
I had to think about it for a bit, but I think this is the likely explanation for the set design.

6. Maybe that's what they're going for
but MLK spoke at a building that already existed, not one that was constructed on a stage. I suppose I get the symbolism but Obama doesn't need the stage design. He can carry the crowd without it.

SET DESIGN?

WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT MATTERS IN THIS COUNTRY THAN SET DESIGN!!!

17. We do have more important
matters in this country than set design, which is why I think an over the top set design is a bad idea, symbolic or not.

7. Precisely!
Greek Colunades have become iconic of American events. All of our important buildings have Greek colonades.

In fact, there are Greek Colunades on each of themain buildings for each of the three branches of government.

There is no more symbolic architectural feature of America than the Greek Colunade.

It's always symbolism with the Obama folks. Sometimes it just takes a moment to figure it out! ;)

And even if he were just trying to recreate a sense of DC in Denver, it would be nice if our own Dems weren't such half-wits as to be intimidated by it.

20. Colonnades and mountaintops...
It's just too bad that our media is so uninformed of American history that this symbolism isn't a little more obvious to them.

Nothing is included unless there's a reason for it being included, and it all -- quite skillfully -- advances OUR narrative.

23. This is NOT going to help the "Messiah" label.
I marched with MLK. I attended the speech 45 years ago. Obama is NO MLK.

Obama is good candidate. He has a great personal history and he promises to be an excellent president. But seriously... Obama's ego is WAY out of control.

i'm guessing you're trying to overcompensate for low self esteem, that's generally what those full of bluster are doing.

28. Well, it was either bring a bit of Washington to the mountaintop...
Or bring the mountaintop to DC.

I think he went with the easier option. ;)

(And yes, his stage at Invesco field features colonnades, much to the dismay of Joe Scarborough)

It has windows in it and a doorway. It almost looks like he'll be walking into the rose garden out of the White House. How's that for a message?
