4. I actually don't know
I've known her for a long time. She's not religious, she likes to drink and occasionally puffs the magic dragon, she's middle class...I DONT GET IT! The only thing I can attribute it to is she lives in Alabama and it is the deep south.

5. I've lived here for 51 yrs.....
and I can attest that there are far too many who vote against their own best interest. I call it stupid, but some blanch at that word. I cant consider them ignorant in this day and age where all the information you need is at your fingertips.....if you are willing to open your mind and listen to it.

6. If the south had to pay $4.50/gal for heating oil, they'd smarten up quick.

I really feel that part of the problem with the south is their lack of cold. Lack of snow. Lack of muddy, brown lawns all winter. Life is pretty much the same all year, and you don't get the reminders that time is passing and winter is coming. There's no need to look down the road and winterize your car or house. They don't think long term because they don't have to. I think they get accustomed to just thinking about today. Tomorrow will be the same. And so they see change as threatening.

It's sort of the american version of, "Don't worry. Be happy."

I just put in a propane room heater to avoid getting gouged by heating prices here in connecticut. I'd almost like this election in February, when people are hundreds of dollars behind on their oil bills.

7. Why are there so few power generating plants there?
I've always wondered and never gotten around to researching. Is it because oil has always been so much cheaper than electricity?
And trust me, its no picnic here in the summer. We run the ACs 9 months of the year and usually 24/7. And those prices are going up also.
