The speech I would love to hear someone dynamic give....
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the mainstream media wants you to think that we're not united, or that there's dissent among our ranks. They want you to think that this is the first time in history factions within a party have steadfastly supported someone other than the party's nominee. But you have to feel sorry for them. After all, most of them are only looking for the negatives in order to make their jobs seem more important. After all, what good is a "news" person if there's no bad news or simmering scandals, whether real or imagined, to report on?

"They would also like you to think that our convention is boring because we haven't gotten up here and ripped John McCain apart. We've missed an opportunity to be negative, they say. But what they don't, or won't, realize is that we are Democrats, not Republicans. It's the Republicans who try to win by dividing and spewing hate and negativity. But that's because it's all they've got. While we're up here talking about issues and how to make America better, the Republicans are busying themselves trying to dig up every negative bit of dirt they can imagine in order to sway America's opinion of Democrats. And if I were a Republican, I suppose I would be doing the same thing since I would have no plan, no platform, and no solutions to the issues that affect all Americans. And that's exactly what the Republicans give you.....nothing! They are more concerned with destroying their opponents than trying to win an election by responding to the needs of the majority of Americans. They are more concerned with making sure that the pockets of those who bankroll their negative ads are filled more than they are concerned about whether Americans are allowed to earn an honest wage.

So to all the negative pandering media people out there denigrating us for not lowering ourselves to the standards of the Republican nay-sayers, I can only say this....if it's hatred, bashing and negativity you want, just wait till next week because you won't find it here. If it's issues, answers, and a plan to make America better, then join with us in spreading the good news.
While we Democrats will be out addressing the concerns of the American people next week, I'm sure you will find all the hatred and politics of division you can possibly stomach in St. Louis.

"Thank you, and good night."
