Should George W. Bush stop poisoning pregnant women?
Obviously, Marc Racicot thinks so, or at the very least, we should stop talking about it:

"We call on John Kerry to join us in condemning all political activity by 527 groups," Racicot said. "There's no place in American politics for $63 million in third party activity that smears the president of the United States of America by accusing him of lying, condoning torture and poisoning pregnant women."

Why does George W. Bush hate pregnant women so? And why shouln't we be allowed to use our 1st Amendment rights to ask him to stop?

4. Still a mystery
Thanks for the link, but it's still a mystery quote -- like so many that the Bush propaganda machine has given us.

Did Kerry accuse Bush of poisoning pregant women or something?

I know that Team Bush is given to hyperbole, but this is something straight from Planet Wack.

5. I'm just as perplexed.
First I've heard of it. But Racicot brought it up, so there must be something there.

At the very least, I believe that the pResident should tell us why he's poisoning pregnant women and when he's going to stop. He also must explain why this has been kept secret.

Lotsa questions, in fact, remain unanswered: Who else knew about this? How many pregnant women has he poisoned? Did he engage in any other nefarious activities with them? Did he cut off their heads? Did he feed them to wood chippers?

It's a ghastly admission by Racicot and deserves close scrutiny.

8. And none of those google hits are about the same thing
This seems like a really obscure non-story or something whack. Those Google hits are variously about:

Prozac
Arsenic
RU-486
and some whacked stuff

There seem to be a lot of pages that say Bush, posion, pregnant; not necessarily in that order.

I would still appreciate a cogent explanation. That is a weird, weird, quote.

10. Sorry. Poor attempt at wingnut logic.
That said, note that not one of the hits debunks the claim.

Sorry again...

11. This is a new technique
Slandering Democrats by making up wild slanders against Republicans and claiming that the Democrats made them up.

I guess this is meta-mudslinging.

What's next? Will the Republicans claim that David "Bush is a shape-shifting alien lizard" Ickes is advising the Kerry campaign?

Shape-Shifting Alien Lizards for the Truth ... ?

That Karl Rove sure is a genius. Either that, or Marc Racicot needs to have his meds adjusted again.

Maybe both.

12. Josh Marshall adds to the confusion.
As I suspected, the only individuals claiming that Bush is poisoning pregnant women are Republicans.

Not just Racicot, it turns out. Marshall mentions "Bush campaign spokesman Taylor Griffin" and Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Joe Repya and suggests that they're not alone.

Remarkably, several members of the media have echoed the claim, but it's been almost thoroughly ignored.

Since the Republicans are claiming that the Democrats are making this allegation - which they have not and are not - then it's clear that they know something we don't. And that, of course, is that George W. Bush is poisoning pregnant women.

BTW, as Marshall also noted, "Presumably this charge was going to get mixed in with similar charges that President Bush was cutting off the head's (sic) of the poor and sticking them on pikes surrounding the White House grounds."

That's just gross. When's he gonna stop doing that?

14. Except that the ad made no mention of poisoning pregnant women.
Here's the text:

Mercury is a dangerous poison still be produced by coal-burning power plants. It gets into the air, the water, and then into the fish we eat, causing brain damage in children. President Bush has taken a lot of money from the people who own those power plants and now he wants the EPA to change the law to say that mercury isn't so dangerous. That means our children will go on eating mercury in their tuna, risking brain damage. Tell the EPA not to let this happen.

and buries 'em in the backyard a "serial killer".. or a "psycho".

We, as a society, need to move away from this destructive habit of labeling.

Or, how about

"I Bit the Poo.. But I did not inhale"
