Democrats went WILD for Pelosi.
Because Pelosi haters are a very, very small minority in the party.

9. Then I guess I'm proud to be a radical, holding to the radical notion that
the constitution is the law of the land, and not collection of quaint suggestions.:eyes:

12. Damned shame that its become radical to
want to protect the constitution. I very much doubt YOU speak for all real Democrats. If you do, I didnt get the memo.

6. And that's one of the reasons why the Democratic party has so many problems...
Just like the Republicans, they don't want to hold their elected officials accountable, for ANYTHING!

21. Technically
Aside from the superdelegates, the campaigns select them, which usually means the local party machine unless there is an upset in the primary. When the county is pretty evenly split, people highly active in the party locally will be split into both camps, so either way they will be party stalwarts, with a few exceptions. These people work hard and deserve their spots, but they get positions of responsibility because they are thought of as 'reliable'--do their job and don't express doubts, unlike the rank and file. Not to mention that few former backers of Kucinich or Edwards--the left wing of the party--were present, and no one representing the many, many Democrats who would have been for Kucinich or Edwards if they had felt that those candidates could be viable in the general election. Or course the superdelegates are party higher ups or elected officials.

In that setting absolutely no one would boo a party standard bearer, and if even as many as a third of the delegates had sat on their hands, it would have seemed like thunderous acclaimation. I'm making this point because DUers really can't consider Pelosi's reception at the Convention a kind of poll of Democratic opinion. Not if we want to stay reality-based.

I LOVE that suit she's wearing.

I'm 6' tall, and would look like the Sta-Puff Woman in that, but she looks amazing.
