ARGH, MSNBC said race was "neck and neck"
I guess it's go with the closest poll (Gallup now) like it's Gospel. I'm beginning to get a little suspicious of the Gallup poll. I don't trust Rasmussen, but at least his poll numbers seem to have a little sanity.

1. Other than the lying involved
I really don't have a problem with this. It will keep people from getting complacent.

23. Oh - I disagree
I've seen it here right on this board. Thinking Sen Obama was going to win a landslide. It's going to be another nail biter and anyone who thinks differently is delusional. Let the press have their stupid narrative about a close race.

24. I've seen a lot of DUers who do not think it will be a landslide

And if they falsely report it as a close race, more Repuke failure to count votes could occur.

And yes, I truly believe Obama can win this solidly. That doesn't mean I'm not concerned.

28. I'm waaaay more worried that
Sen Obama will win be far ahead early and the mountain and pacific time zone people will not turn out and vote. Not only does it mccain a chance to catch up, it'll mess up down ticket races.

Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 01:35 PM by mvd
that won't be a big concern. But it's something to keep in mind. Still have to get out the vote.

35. It's very important
If it is possible to get a fillibuster proof Senate (I know it's a long shot but it is possible), we need every single vote in every single time zone. Every vote for a house or senate seat is crucial. And I'm sure there are local races that are going to need attention also. It's kind of why I'd be happy if they didn't announce winners of states until ALL the states have voted and closed their polls.

4. It would help if they were giving us honest polls
But they are making it "Polls that Keep Their Ratings Up."

They do so much cherry picking.

But they seemed to lean Bush in 2004, so the CO poll is still a positive.

11. Probably because the last two haven't been deciced until late into the night.
With the battleground states being in the west, this election very well may come down to New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. If that is the case, we might not know who wins until those states' votes are fully counted.

6. My first thought is maybe these pollsters are now on the MSM payroll?
So much deception all around us all the time now ..... hard to figure fact from fiction anymore. A tight race is good for ratings among other things by people who would have you believe certain things. I'm just saying ..... Peace.

18. I bet that Obama will open up a wider (much wider) lead next week after the convention is over.
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 01:16 PM by KatieW
Having said that, I think things will stay kind of tight until the last couple of weeks when Obama will start to really pull ahead, like what happened with Reagan in 1980. I bet come the morning of 11/5, he'll have won by a VERY comfortable margin.
Truthfully, I'd rather the stay kind of tight until we get closer to Nov.4. I'm afraid people will get to complacent if he opens up a big lead now and it stays big.

25. No poll is 100% reliable. These two sites offer the best data, IMHO
I posted this earlier this morning:

(pollster and fivethirtyeight)

For interesting convention chatter, I check demconwatch form time to time.

Let's do this thing!
