The media's going to be SHOCKED when Bill and Hillary Clinton go up on stage...
...and give the kindest, warmest, most gracious and complimentary speeches in convention history to the presumptive nominee.

But at least they've made sure people around the country will be watching...:)

Its my greatest hope that they bring their very best to support this candidate. They have done so much for us in the past it would be a shame for them to alienate themselves over a bitter primary.

8. They will either use it to point out how "badly the've been treated" or make up "hidden meaning"
designed to magically signal the Clinton armies.
Either of which is intended to sow discord in the party. And it will work with boards like this.

12. Media Won't Be Surprised.
The Media knows that Senator Clinton and President Clinton will do that. It is the Clinton haters on DU and the Obama haters on DU who will be surprised. Hopefully, the hate directed against Hillary and Bill will go away after those speeches. Hopefully, any hate directed against Obama by some Clinton supporters will go away after those speeches.

34. Where has Hillary Clinton
not been behind the nominee? Please provide a link where she is quoted (don't bother me with surrogates or unnamed sources). And, of course, you realize he's not actually the nominee until the roll call vote, aren't you. He's the presumptive nominee - I suspect you're the one who is new to elections to get that wrong.

they need to reject, denounce, and put distance between themselves and McCain. Hillary needs to attack McCain with all her vigor for using her image in his negative ads. The nation needs to see this!

39. I caught a snip of MSNBC a couple of hours ago
and Chuck Todd was talking to Brian Williams who asked him about the riff between O & H.C. He said, he thought it was the product of all the main stream media types all being in the Denver Bubble and that's all each other are talking about. That he doesn't think it actually exists.
Later I tuned in Blomberg and they were running a clip of Hillary looking great and sounding gracious asking her supporters to rally around Obama, that he represents everything her campaign was trying to achieve. She received a huge round of applause. It's amazing that it is not being shown on the channels.
That might prove Todd's theory. They can fill more time babbling about a condition that doesn't really exist.

42. What I'd like to hear Bill say:
"This guy is the real deal, and he's unstoppable. We threw everything we could at him, and we could not take him down. If he can survive two Clinton's campaigning, he can survive any attack the republicans can muster up."

43. In other words, in order to please you he must validate your preferred narrative of history so that
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 03:09 PM by StevieM
you can keep on being righteous.

Nothing you just asked of him would win over any voters....it would just make you feel good. I don't agree with your condescending statements about them throwing everything they could at him, or how amazing it is to survive "two Clintons campaigning." In fact, I find they way you identify the Clintons as interchangeable, and an amorphous creature, to be degrading and insulting.

But, of course, that's part of why you say stuff like that. You're not making an honest assessment of what it would take assist Barack's candidacy. You're looking to continue the process of affirming your status as the good guy and the Clintons' status as (at least) the former bad guys, seeking forgiveness and redemption.

That's why Obamites are so upset about the Convention--not because the Clintons are being given anything unusually grand. But because Hillary's place of honor at the Convention contradicts their narrative about a disgraceful campaign that has left its candidate in disrepute and desperately seeking forgiveness. Instead she is being treated like a superstar whose campaign is a cherished part of Democratic Party history.

I can assure you...that statement you just asked for would do NOTHING to win over Clinton voters to Obama's side--it would simply make some Obama voters feel good. And he already has their support. Now he needs to win over more Clinton (and Edwards) voters, and yes, he does have to work to do it--he isn't simply entitled to them, if they are registered Democrats. Every vote must be earned.

For whatever it's worth, Hillary convinced me to vote for Obama.

Steve
