If plastic keys causes McShame to have flashbacks, then he is unfit to lead

this country.

How many other things might give him flashbacks and then cause him to go crazy or push the button?

F THAT! If he can't take the heat, get out the kitchen. Period.

1. Has someone suggested that it would?
I haven't heard that, but if so it's pretty pathetic.

He is not fit for presidency if this is the case over plastic keys.

17. The jingling of keys is supposed to remind him of his jailers.
He could hear them jingling their keys as they approached his cell.

19. Oh brother...
Is this something that the right has suggested or that we're internalizing due to our own cowardice?

I mean honsetly, the republicans just outright mock the dem candidates military service in '04 feel not the slightest bit of shame, regret, or anything about it because in the end, they won.

Our side tries to mock the wealth and out of touch nature of their candidate and we get scared because maybe, someone at some point might perceive it as us being mean with regard to something COMPLETELY unrelated to what we're mocking (his # of houses).

22. Cowardice
McCain hasn't been a great actor during this campaign, and I can't see him pulling it off convincing people that we're torturing him by jingling keys at the DNC.

The point here is simple.

1) The RW is making a big deal of his POW status. They bring it up at every opportunity.

2) The stupid keychain thing will give them additional opportunities.

Q fucken ED

In case that didn't make it through, let me put it another way. McCain's handlers want people to think "POW" every time they see him. The keychain thing merely helps that cause.

26. If people are jingling their keys at the voting booths on election day, Obama wins in a landslide.
You really think that the average American is going to think "POW" when they hear keys jingling? Please, step away from the Limbaugh Kool-Aid.

Your attitude sums up why Dems have been losing in the past. They lack that "spine of steel" that Biden talked about.

28. Forget the goddam keychains. Make bracelets of THESE:

These give you a wonderful association with Monopoly.

And BTW I kinda resent the "spineless" stuff. I'm trying to point out the very bad psychology of playing into their hands.

If people don't now know the keychain-POW association, that ignorance won't last for long. The mass media will shortly be driving it into the public awareness. Don't let them control the images. Don't let them control the message.

30. I like the Monopoly keychain idea
and think it's technically better than the key-jingling. But it does take a little bit of effort, whereas everybody already has keys. Also, ignorance is bliss for many Americans. I saw a recent poll where only 43% knew that Condi Rice was the Secretary of State. People won't be associating key chains with POW status. I know that's the latest talking point from the McCain campaign right now, but it smacks of desperation.

..has this interpretation been seen in the media yet or are we simply anticipating it and buckling in advance of possibly, maybe, somewhere, someone maybe thinking we're being mean?

Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 08:09 AM by Jackpine Radical
If it were just the houses, the keys would be funny. But with the PTSD factor, they are one helluva big loser for us. Like those purple-heart bandaids the Puggies were all wearing in 2004. They make us look like sadists, and they keep reviving the POW meme that they're trying to keep going.

IT'S STUPID, STUPID!!

33. And yet, the purple bandaids were a winner.
They helped reinforce the doubts about Kerry's service in many people's minds, and helped lose us the election.

They used political theater to back up a lie. We're using it to back up a truth: that McCain is out of touch, and has nothing in common with the common man.

40. They had the media on their side.
We don't. It's too easy to turn the keys into blowback. That could have happened with the bandaids--and to some extent it did--I know a lot of vets got really pissed over it, trivializing the Purple Heart & all, but it could have really turned into a disaster for them with a little help from the media.

Because it works!

We have got to stop being so namby pamby when it comes to tactics. The GOP always kicks our ass on this kind of stuff, because we always have too many hand wringers contemplating their navels on every strategem to make KEY issues widely known among the public.

12. I have nothing against taunting in general, but this one is a loser.
Every time you shake those keys, you remind people that McCain was a big POW hero, and you bring up all the positive things they're trying to associate with the POW business, while aking yourself look like a mean=-spirited simpleton. Anybody ever tell you about Pavlov & his dogs?

If the McCain campaign or the media try to tie this to his PTSD then they have admitted that he has PTSD! Game over, we WIN. Do you really think they want the average voter questioning whether or not he's mentally fit to be in the oval office?
