Gov. Rendell: Hillary Clinton may run again
cut/paste from LBN

Gov. Rendell: Hillary Clinton may run again

Source: USA Today

DENVER — Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will probably run for president again despite failing to secure the Democratic nomination this year.

"Yeah, she wants to run again," Rendell told USA TODAY Sunday morning at the site of the Democratic National Convention.

Rendell was a Clinton supporter and campaigned with her throughout his home state. He said she clearly enjoyed the process and reached a comfort level with voters the longer she stayed on the road.

Rendell recalled a night in an industrial area south of Pittsburgh shortly before the state's primary when 2,500 supporters filled an outdoor amphitheater despite a downpour to rally for the New York senator. Moments like those, Rendell said, will propel her to run again.

"By the end of the campaign, when she had really connected with American voters, particularly working-class voters, I think she was having a great time," he said.

11. At this point, I think they should all just be taken out of the picture.
They are doing more harm than good with their half-assed support. They get to pretend to support, get media coverage and access, and then tear down the nominee. Who needs it? After this convention, Dems need to dispose of them. They should have no contact or connection with the campaign. Keep them in the dark. And when Obama wins, keep them there.

13. Yep, I didn't forget how she sat back, not helping us in 2004 and 2006
and I won't forget if she doesn't help us this year. She has the perfect opportunity with this latest McCain ad to show that she's a team player. If not, I will be committed to her defeat once the next time she runs.

73. Shhhh, Teddy is now a saint.
Who cares that he ran against a sitting president of his own party and took it all the way to the convention floor despite being behind by 700 delegates.

Who cares that he could barely muster enough enthusiasm to halfheartedly endorse president Carter. But, if it's Hillary, then she has to walk through hot coals and rend at her clothing to prove her loyalty to the party and our nominee.

Yep, meany Hillary is the only one who shouldn't run again.

Whatever...........

The spotlight is there for them no one wants to take it away. All they want is for them to get on board the train lets work together and get these jobs done.

These are important times we face as a nation its no time for manipulation and thinking about the next election.

We want them on board screaming and yelling Gobama! Go Dems! Lets kick republican ass!

Instead we have to reprimand them beg them plead with them....Stop nipping at our nominees heels! WTF!

23. Not coincidence that her surrogates keep dog whistling
She is hoping to support Obama enough to keep in the party's good graces, but not enough for him to win. She wants her supporters to do the same and they know it. Corzine, Begela, Carville, Rendell ... She is maintaining plausible deniability, like with her "concession" speech where she spoke with a disgusted look as she praised (briefly) Obama and then turned into Happy Hillary when she talked about glass ceilings and never give up the dream blah blah blah. Every time I see that she could have done something better to help Obama and doesn't, I know she's sandbagging. Just indirectly responding to McCain's ad. Not telling her supporters to just cut the crap but rather talking about their need for catharsis.

She can say "I'm doing everything I'm asked." It's like a passive-aggressive employee working to rule. Yes, they do what you ask, but they don't really do it right and they don't do anything you don't ask even when it's what a normal person would do.

The really disgusting thing is that before all the niceness after early June, she basically said "They're going to make me be nice but don't believe me then, believe me now."

Better do a damn good job in Denver and after, if she doesn't want the whole election hung around her neck. I'm not going out of my way to be divisive here, but she really can do better, and just hasn't, hasn't and hasn't. After her kitchen-sink kneecapping spree in the spring, she owes the party big time, not the other way round.

Flame away.

I agree with a lot of your post.

She created this PUMA mess and the like by giving these people false hopes 5 or six weeks longer than it was feasible for her to win.

She should have bowed out gracefully when the math was insurmountable.

No sexism. Just math.

I completely agree. It has been disgusting to watch it unfold this way, but not unexpected.

Only thing I know for sure is that once either Obama or McCain (god forbid) wins this thing, Hillary Clinton will disappear like a bad rash. And has ticked off enough people who see through her that by the time 2012 comes around, nobody will understand why she'd even waste the money to run again. At least from November 2008 until then, the airwaves will be free of this nonsense.

This is an undignified way to spend her last moments on stage, grasping at a disappearing spotlight.

And he's not happy.

No one else will ask him, except Hillary.

Fast Eddie needs to go back and re-tool his plans to sell the PA Turnpike to a foreign concern before he leaves office. Oh, yeah, and turn I-80 into a toll road, too. He's working very, very hard with the Republicans in the Pennsylvania legislature to make sure that happens.

Even though the people of Pennsylvania oppose it.

58. I really can't believe that the Keystoners aren't up in arms over this
What an incredibly bad deal, and to make things even worse, rumor has it that the consortium is on the verge of bankruptcy in Europe. The business model they have proposed projects toll revenues at double the current rate, while traffic is actually decreasing slightly.

Yet Fast Eddie plays ball with the Republicans to get the deal done.

I wonder just how much money will pass into the re-election coffers of those willing to sell out their constituents?

Like the Indiana toll road deal. Some of those people close to the governors' office got rich.

30. This may be helpful in one way...
Were I a hardcore Hillary supporter (I'm not) I might find it easier to support Obama now knowing that "my candidate" will be back. If I thought Obama ended "my candidate's" chances of ever being president, I might have more resentment towards Obama.

Personally, I think she'd done making serious runs for president, and I don't think Rendell was coming out with this for party unity, but I don't think it's all bad, either.

65. As far as I can remember, other presidents that served out their terms,
they along with their spouses chose to resign themselve to a more private life, they got out of Washington politics. Some made public appearances sometimes, some became authors, some did charity work. But I never seen any of the former presidents try yo hold on to power like the Clintons, the Clintons refuse to leave the national stage. They will sabotage the candidacy of the nominee of their own party just to maintain control of the party. What kind of people are they? Now I see why Obama didn't pick her and have to deal with Clinton's ego.

68. She can run all she wants.

The only problem is that she's alienated a huge chunk of eligible voters. She'd have to reintroduce herself, try and convince people to give money, deal with the MSM...I have a headache just thinking about it. Her 'friends' are nothing but vipers and should keep their comments to themselves unless Sen. Clinton gave them the green light. And if she did...oh, boy.
