How old is too old ???
Ronald Reagan spent most of his time in the White House with Alzheimers.

That is uncalled for for the problems we are facing to have a President older than Reagan

when he was elected. That is a subject that needs to be addressed.

1. Once you lose track of your houses
you're one set of pajamas away from wandering the neighborhood yelling at clouds.

"Age 60, 52, 48, even 40. These are the new faces of alzheimer's. Karen Waterhouse is only 51, abut her mind is turning on her. Karen was diagnosed at 49 with Alzheimer's."

5. Woman I used to care for
in a nursing home had Alzheimer's. She was in her mid 40s and had a 6 year old daughter. The woman did not know who this child was. It was so very, very sad. She could no longer speak, eat, toilet, or in any way care for herself. Her daughter used to draw her pictures every week when she came to visit. They lined the walls of her room. They all said, "Mommy, I love you very much."

When most people think of Alzheimer's, they think of old folks. That isn't always true, as this young woman with a very young child shows.

6. How old is too old? That depends; it's a very relative thing.
It depends more on the individual than any hard and fast rule, really. William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke, led troops into battle (and personally took prisoners) when he was the same age as John McCain.

Lord Palmerston was 71 years old when appointed Prime Minister of Great Britain; he's generally considered to have been one of the greatest statesmen of the 19th century.

I wouldn't say that someone who's 70 is 'too old' to be President, but that depends entirely on whether the person in question is mentally sharp, physically active, and capable of dealing with the day-to-day stresses such a position requires. I don't think that McCain meets these criteria; he's certainly not mentally sharp, there are serious questions about possible untreated PTSD and associated stress triggers regarding his temperament and tendency to anger, he's had multiple recurrences of cancer...the question isn't whether a man of McCain's age is fit to be President; the question is whether McCain is fit to be President.
