McCain Houses: Why didn't the media know how many?
...But as bad as it was that McCain didn’t know how many houses he has, it’s even worse that the media didn’t have that answer at its fingertips. The media was too busy portraying McCain as a man of the people, a self-made man, forged in the prison camp of Hanoi. This ridiculous wealth didn’t fit into the narrative, and so it wasn’t researched, and it wasn’t widely reported. This was a gotcha moment for the media as much as for McCain. For the next couple of days, we heard that the answer was four, seven, eight, twelve…

2. Damn interesting question, though.
Why didn't they "know?"

The answer is easy. The McCain people never put it in a press release, so how were those poor little stenographers SUPPOSED to know?

I'm flabbergasted that the question ever even got asked, because I can't believe it was on their list of approved questions.

Somebody's head's gonna roll for asking something that impertinent, I bet.

3. Journos are LAZY. The less digging they have to do, the better.
I think it's very obvious; air Anna Nicole Smith 24/7, their job is done. Nevermind the issues thinking people should be thinking about; that takes too much effort. My opinion is very low for most of them.

4. I think it's worse than simple laziness. I think they have an agenda
that is best advanced by their not raising embarrassing questions about McNutso.

Remember Jackpine's Thrid Law: "Never ascribe to mere incompetence that which is better explained by deliberate malice."
