Bush & Arnold seek to EXPLOIT NYFD during convention, sickening!
W wants to bond with Bravest

BY MICHELE MCPHEE in New York
and HELEN KENNEDY and KENNETH R. BAZINET in Washington
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

WASHINGTON - President Bush wants to watch the Republican convention from a New York City firehouse and "bond" with the city's Bravest, officials said yesterday.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also scouting out firehouses so he can watch it with the heroes of 9/11.

"Both Bush and Schwarzenegger want to bond with city firefighters," said one city official who asked not to be named.

FDNY spokesman Frank Gribbon said, "The President of the United States is welcome in any fire facility in the city."

5. And their contract talks have been sent to binding arbitration,
along with police contracts. They are massively po'd at Bloomberg, will be picketing MSG, and are even considering asking delegates NOT TO CROSS THEIR PICKET LINES. This all will be downplayed in the media, so we need to spread the word about it.

I find this a profoundly stupid idea on Bunnypant's part. I hope it works just as well as I expect it to!

3. He is trying to claim he is tighter with firefighters than Kerry
I hope firefighters ask about Hastert's comments about NYC just grabbing dollars after 9/11.

6. LOL! Bush wants to "bond" with the firefighers?
The Coward of Crawford hopes the firefighter heroism will rub off on him. No chance!

These guys are pissed, anyway. I wonder if they will welcome the GOP, who has denied them a contract for 2 and a half years, denied them a raise for 3 years. The HYPOCRISY of the GOP knows no bounds. Exploit our NYFD? I'd like to see Bush try it. LOL, it could be another Rove FIASCO!!!

7. Might be a win-win for us, though.
How will it look if he pulls out of it now?

This was an immensely stupid move on somebody's part. We need to take major advantage. Kerry should have a IAFF rally about the same time, and make sure he stresses the fact that NY ff and police are working without a contract and that their talks have been sent to binding arbitration, for which they are SUPREMELY pissed at Bloomberg!

8. It would be great if the firefighters said yes...
...then showed up to the firehouse wearing Kerry-Edwards T-Shirts.

9. Maybe they will be called out to fight a fire!
After all, that is what firemen do, right? Will Bush ride along with them? Maybe enter a burning building and have the roof cave in on him? We can only hope. No, wait; then Cheney gets to play President. ARRGGHH!

12. "I vant to slide on da pole and wear da boots and the stuff".
They are a ahameless crew. Why not go to Holmdel New Jersey and it's surrounding area and watch with the locals at the High School? That would be good television.

13. They will CHERRYPICK which firefighters are shown. That is what they do.
This will be another staged performance.

And on the tax dollars of New Yorkers.

14. Great idea!
Given how a lot of firefighters feel about Bush, this is *almost* as brilliant as Shrubby's great idea to go watch the Iraqi soccer team in Athens.

This guy's lackeys do an incredible job of insulating him from what people really think about him, don't they? I have to give them some grudging respect for that.
