CNN just bugs me with their smugness
That they are "breaking" the Biden VP story.
They just couldn't STAND letting the Obama campaign doing it their way.

Alternatively, maybe there were so many texters and emailers wanting to be in the know that the system couldn't handle it so they had to leak!

(CNN is like a ghost of itself. I used to think they were an independent voice, back in the early 90s. OJ ruined everything!)

1. What did you expect them to do?
I mean, obviously, if you're in the media and you get this story, you run with it. I don't even think there's a question about it. It's not as though the media owes any loyalty to Obama or McCain.

2. How are they "breaking" it?
Have they received official word?

Seriously, has it been confirmed that the secret service was sent to Biden's? (I don't have cable - so I'm at DU's mercy!) Thanks!

4. There's not a leak ...

There's a media industry that got pissed right the hell off that a candidate wasn't cowing to their awesomeness. They all want to be first. There's a reason the "breaking news" thing is used so frequently now; it gives the impression of being "first." Obama wasn't letting them be first.

So, they ramped it up and started doing crazy shit like following people around day and night, checking flight schedules, talking to cousins of mailmen of people who lived across the street from former acquaintances of people who had once hear of someone who might have know the niece of the hairdresser who thought they might have seen a potential VP pick brushing his or her teeth at an abnormal time.

'Course, there were a lot of people doing that crap here too.

But, that's still the point. Obama *owned* the media on this. It has been awesome.
