Supporters.

At first it seems "CLEVER" that he waits and waits and "manipulates the Media" who has not treated him fairly...but after awhile it goes so OTT that he loses those who are forced to vote for him...because all our other candidates didn't make it.

This has gone on too long. There are many of us who are now PAST the "TEASING FAZE" and given how Obama has thrown the Left of the Dem Party "Under the Bus" we are kind of getting sick of his "gameplan." We feel it's going into MANIPULATION TERRITORY...so OTT we might wonder about who the hell he thinks he is!

I think being "patient for his announcement" is butting up against "It's gone on long enough"...and it's time to stop it if you want the "serious older voters" to "show up for you.")

He's GAMING THE SYSTEM at a disadvantage to the VOTERS HE NEEDS who are RELIABLE. Just saying.......not good.

Because we aren't that emotional. They don't call us the "No Drama for Obama" brigade for nothing. Personally, I find it great, and I suggest that you speak only for yourself.

Perhaps this will make a few who wouldn't normally actually pay attention to politics for a change. That sounds like a net gain if you ask me.

I don't recall the Obama campaign ever saying they were going to announce yesterday or today. In fact, we've known for sometime now that he has an event scheduled tomorrow to unveil his choice. It's the media who is impatient and I'm ok with Obama working on his own timeline and not theirs.

27. Ummm, you do realize that the plan has ALWAYS been for Saturday
You're buying into the media hype. Just because the media is frothing at the mouth over this, desperate for a story, doesn't mean that Obama intentionally created it. Sure he wanted publicity but -- it was always planned for this Saturday. If they send out the text beforehand, great.

So the end of it is: Don't let the media whip you up in their hype, otherwise you'll start feeling exactly like you are now.

44. Longtime DU reader that hardly ever (almost never) posts...
But I had to respond to this because you are stepping into such ignorant territory.

Seriously, come November, are you going to base your vote on what day of the week Obama announced his VP choice on?

He is generating as much media buzz as he can, which is in turn building up buzz for the convention. He wants Democrats to win the day in November... not just in the White House, but also in the House house. The narrative of the VP buzz and the long wait is also helping push many "newer", potential Democratic leaders of the future into the spotlight so that the country in general can get to know them better (IE, Kaine, Sebelius, Bayh) while reminding America of some of people like Joe Biden who has dedicated many, many years being a Senate champion for the cause of our progress.

Right now, the media narrative is being controlled by our brilliant candidate and his brilliant campaign team. Democrats are getting the spotlight while John McCain has the honor of being the first Republican in a long time to be called out for their "elitist ways".

If you can't be more patient and would seriously change your vote because of something so petty as your lack of patience for a freakin' VP announcement, then I would be inclined to say that you deserve the horrid implications that a McCain presidency would deliver... and along with it, the blood on your hands that the rest of us who didn't deserve it, would have to endure ourselves.

From yesterday:

78. I'm pissed at his supporters here on DU who said it would be Wednesday this last week!
then it was Thursday, then Friday (within hours)...but just keep "signing up with your Name, E-Mail Address and Donation) and all will be revealed as to who the VP Choice finally is.

BAIT AND SWITCH....Miscalculation...figuring that we "voting Dems..hard core" are just going to work our butts off and line up to vote because we have "NO WHERE ELSE TO GO?" How jaded could these Campaign managers be to be so damned COCKY AND CONFIDENT! FUCK OFF...if that's the kind of folks Obama is surrounding himself with....!

54. What gives you the right to know now?
Perhaps people need to take a step back, and visit the family for the weekend. Like Obama is. Watch the end of the olympics. Enjoy some sun or rain, depending on where you are.

59. Do you have any sense of history of when these selections are usually made?
They are usually made a few days before the convention (2-4 days) or at the convention itself. Now, just because Kerry went against the grain in 2004 and announced his choice three weeks prior to the convention, which led to an anti-climaxtic and boring convention, doesn't mean Obama has to do the same thing.

So I'm not worried.

75. Chill out..I think its hilarious, he's got the media lapping at his feet
The MSN wants any news it can get. They and all of us are literally on the edge of our seats waiting for this announcement/text message. Utterly brilliant...lets see McJoke try and pull something like this off. He would probably forget who he was supposed to pick and the wrong text message would go out. I am sitting back and enjoying the speculation and anticipation. I also thought all day long it would probably be Saturday so I am content to wait.

83. What you say is maybe the truth of it? But as a Lefty Dem on many issues...
it's worrysome...given that I try to believe in him even though he mirrors John McSame on his message time after time...and FISA VOTE...plus other "backtracking."

I've tried to believe...but every time I get onboard..something else crops up. What if Obama is too honored and principled to be President? What if he's gone down that road...see's how his whole Presidency and goals are already corrupted and could be useless once "he's owned and run by the PTB?"

Maybe he has "second thoughts" about what "Seizing the Prize" would mean to him, his wife and two young daughters. If he's honorable as we think...then maybe his "stalling" is more than we think.
