About all these text messages,
I wonder what so many messages sent at the same time would do to a wireless network! If you have any important calls to make, you might want to get them out of the way now.

1. lol... Absolutely nothing.
The networks handle traffic like this all the time... think American Idol.

6. Ah I forgot about American Idol
That was just AT&T, wasn't it? I can't think of a real precedent for this.

2. Phone calls use an entirely different part of the
network than messaging. This should be no big deal for the networks.

One thing tho... unless they are using a huge number of parallel gateways, these messages will take a long time to que up and send. The first people on the list will likely get theirs quite a while before the last.

I wonder what order they will use to que the messages, first come first served, or numerical, or something else. Many will likely hear on the TV or Web before they get their message.

5. I was thinking the same thing
There's no way that everyone would get them at exactly the same time. The aftermath should be interesting.

3. I know that land lines get overloaded -- like trying to get through
to someone when there's been a disaster.

Don't know how it works in this situation, though.

And there is NO call more important right now than Obama's VP pick -- I'm surprised you didn't know that! :7

7. I'm trying to visualize the mechanics of all this
something I hadn't thought about before.
