Do you think that Obama should mention the draft issue in his acceptance speech?
Just a short mention such as this:

"John McCain won't say it, but I will. There will be no resumption of the draft under an Obama administration."

Thoughts?

8. Whether he is or not that's unnecessary political suicide.

2. I don't know that you can ever guarantee that there won't be a draft, in case
there's massive unforeseen trouble in the world--so I wouldn't.

3. What he should say is that the bush administration is now giving a time table
something both bush and mccain should not be done, and something he has been saying for sometime

4. I'm wondering if Obama is afraid to go there. For me, it's become the #1 issue.

5. No - that was much ado about nothing.
McCain was not responding to the 'draft' comment. Hell, even I was dozing off by the time the questioner got to that point.

9. Not exactly. McCain's foreign policy plans are overly ambitious...
(read: CRAZY). McCain should be asked (in a debate) how he plans to run so many simultaneous conflicts WITHOUT a draft.

He did open himself up to that question the other day.

10. I fully agree - he should be asked the question outright.
But gleaning anything about the draft from that bit the other day is reaching.

6. No. What if WWIII breaks out and Obama has to renege on his promise?
That's how McCain would respond to this. "Obama's naive", etc.

12. No, because it's not something that is something he can promise.
It's also not something he can address yet because it would be presumptuous of him and he's always good at knowing his boundaries. He's pretty much the most modest presidential candidate I've seen-- partly because of how the GOP and MSM would jump on him for being "uppity"...
