Buffett Says Someone Should File A Class Action Suit Against John Edwards

On Squawk Box today, Warren Buffett said he thinks it would be interesting if a contributor to John Edwards presidential campaign filed a class action lawsuit against him on behalf of all the contributors. Buffett's basis to make this statement is that John Edwards defrauded contributors by denying that he had the affair. Buffett said people who even gave $50 should get their money back.

I'm not completely naive. I know every politician must lie at some point on the campaign trail, otherwise the Republicans would butcher you. Some are better lies than others. Some are senseless lies like the Bosnia thing. Some are deliberately to cover your ass like Edwards. But where would we draw the line? If everytime a politicians lies were exposed, people got their money back, no candidate would ever have any money.

If people are in a tough spot and need their money back... ok. But otherwise I wish people would leave the Edwardses alone. Not for his sake. But for Elizabeth and their children. How humiliating this must be for them. The woman has been through too much already. Let them fade from the spotlight and enjoy some solitude.
