Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 08:15 PM by Sparkly
What ELSE can be defended with, "He's a war hero, he was a POW, he got beaten up, he stayed in the Hanoi Hilton," etc..?

It was the defense for his affair, it's the defense for his forgetting how many houses he owns, etc...

And, Watkins segues directly from McCain's quote, to POW, to Rezko. Amazing. :eyes:

10. SNL is losing viewers... The McCain campaign is providing all the amusement.
Guess he liked hosting way too much and decided to take the show on the road.

6. McCain's campaign is really cheapening the POW thing.
Pretty soon it will be a pathetic joke, like Rudy Giuliani flogging 9/11. Will they use it to respond to criticisms about his adultery? "Well, he didn't have ANY hot young heiresses to bone while he was a POW!"

19. It'd be great if a general would point out that being a POW doesn't bestow judgment on someone
and isn't an automatic qualification for the presidency.

Oh wait.... ;)

33. It will be his excuse for being a bad president
June 2009: McCain exposed for lying country into war. Press secretary responds: He lied to the guards was a POW.
November 2009: McCain no-bid contracts under executive order revealed to cost $500B for toy parts. Press secretary responds: He wished he could have toy parts when he was a POW.

etc.

Nope, even though it may work sometimes, I can't see wanting to give a president a free pass on screwing up the country, just because he was a POW.

He doesn't listen at all. He has no respect. He's full of ego. AND he smirks through it all. He just goes out and shouts louder and louder.. and looks like a complete ignoramus.

panic stricken, Watkins confirmed how worried they are. Joe was stuttering, blustering and interrupting at record levels.

22. I hope they keep this up...
Pretty soon his POW experience will have absolutely no value what so ever.

"Hey John McCain doesn't have to floss cuz he was a POW."

"John McCain likes ball point pens cuz he was a POW."

"POWs like John McCain only eat red pistachios."

"John POW McCain puts sour cream on his baked potatoes."

23. You know, at first I thought that Democrats were repeating the "hero" nonsense too often.
But now I think we should just parrot it as often as they do. "He's a war hero, but..." It's getting to the point where it's completely meaningless. I'm not sure that people even hear it anymore. I think soon every American is going to be as sick of hearing that as we are. Especially since people are already aware of the Rudy 9/11 effect.

26. What astonished me
Is when Watkins started out by saying that John McCain was no different than the average American, in that they have difficulty remembering all the investments and losing track of everything they own. That goes to show how out of touch the GOP is! They honestly think the average American is like that? I think not!

And at the rate McMansions is using it, it'll be worn out by the time he really needs it.
