McCain Spokesman's Retort: Obama Lives in "a Frickin' Mansion"
By Michael D. Shear

SEDONA, Ariz. -- A spokesman for Sen. John McCain vowed to retaliate against today's story about how many houses the GOP candidate owns with a renewed focus on Sen. Barack Obama's ties to a Chicago developer and charges that Obama is an elitist.

"We're delighted to have a real estate debate with Barack Obama," said spokesman Brian Rogers, adding that the press should focus on Obama's house. "It's a frickin' mansion. He doesn't tell people that. You have a mansion you bought in a shady deal with a convicted felon."

...

"That's fair game now," he said. "You are going to see more of that now that this issue has been joined. You'll see more of the Rezko matter from us."

The McCain campaign was in full damage-control mode as the housing story took off today. Rogers tried to play down the story, saying that reports of the many McCain houses were overstated.

...

He also added: "This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years -- in prison," referring to the prisoner of war camp that McCain was in during the Vietnam War.

Rogers called the house story "by far the most personal attack" of the campaign, and said "it comes from a candidate who said he was against this kind of thing."

56. He wouldn't have been a POW if he wasn't such a washout and lousy pilot!
THOUSANDS, maybe TENS of thousands of sorties were flown over Hanoi and N. Vietnam during the war, he was only one of a few hundred shot down. And then he got special treatment anyway, and he's been using his POW-ism to his own advantage (and against REAL patriots) ever since.

Shamefully disgusting. Read and view the material on http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com for the REAL facts of his "imprisonment"!!

but it's not on an estate. Besides, he bought it with his own money that he earned writing a book.

This is a good shot of the famous side lot. You can see where it's be reasonable for Obama to want an extra 10 feet for a side yard while the remaining vacant lot is still very viable for a condo.

It's not just laughable, it's embarrassing, or should be to McCain, if he hadn't run out of shame years ago.

Cheapening his POW experience by using it as a bottomless "get out of jail free" card must be incredibly offensive to other POWs.

...did you hear Cindy McCain defending his dumping his 1st wife on that CNN special? She said (paraphrasing, but very close) "John knew I'd be a good wife and mother. I believe that's what he saw in me, and what he was looking for." WTF! He HAD a wife, and children, and, presumably, she was a good mother to them. What a selfish self-absorbed awful thing to say coming from the woman who stole her husband. Good grief.

This is Johnny Mac's speech pattern. Always. Just like Ghouliani was "Noun, verb, 9/11."

It has no bearing whatsoever to the question at hand. It is just that Team McCain must remind us he was a P.O.W., especially if they can remind us 650+ times each day.

You can tell by the pile of nonsense released by the impact. These are some of the funniest responses since the "Obama was in lockstep with * 45% of the time" drivel. Here is a quick math lesson for the GOP: 95% > 45% and 7 mansions > 1 mansion (even if it happens to be a "frickin" mansion).

I think the Obama campaign is finally taking the gloves off...

50. Has someone researched shots of McCain's many houses?
I remember seeing pictures of the places his wife hadn't paid her taxes on in San Diego. What about the others - so numerous he can't count?

I'm just thinking these aren't likely to be shacks, you know?

54. ONE mansion vs. SEVERAL mansions for McCain.
As far as we know, Obama has kept up tax payments on his ONE mansion, too.

As far as we know, Obama can keep track of how many homes he owns. Crash defers that question to his staff because he's either too embarassed to tell how many he owns, or he actually lost count.

And here we go again, playing the POW card in debating home ownership.

A McCain/Giuliani ticket would be a fun one to have. At the convention, they can conduct a cheer similar to the TASTES GREAT - LESS FILLING! chant from the old beer commercials. Instead you can have POW - 9-11! POW - 9-11!

Oh, and did we mention that McCain was a POW?

he better end up wishing he had never started this negative war. If he does not, then we need a new candidate. Smear him NOW! I have had enough of dems going down for lies. Look what it has cost the world, not just the USA. If that war of Bush had been one to be fought in the USA, there would have been no support. If it had had pictures of caskets and pictures of torture and pictures of dead Iraqi children crushed under their own houses, I hope the Americans would not have supported this war. Americans are asleep at the wheel. Obama won and now he needs to lead and win the presidency. It will be a disaster if he does not and IMHO he is running a poor campaign.

uses 9/11!

- You're a crook ---- Awk, Awk, 5 years as a POW, Awk, Awk

- You're frickin old and senile ----Awk, Awk, 5 years as a POW, Awk, Awk

- You called your wife a cu#@----Awk, Awk, 5 years as a POW, Awk, Awk

- You cheated on your first wife with a woman you described as a trollip----Awk, Awk, 5 years as a POW, Awk, Awk

- Your plan for America will leave us a festering cesspool of a country----Awk, Awk, 5 years as a POW, Awk, Awk

My God it's getting sickening!

Q: John, you were implicated in the Keating Five Scandal, and have never really answered the tough questions about corruption.

A: Well, let me tell you what I learned while I spent 5 years as a POW.

He simply can't get away with this.

What were you doing when Katrina flooded New Orleans, and who were you with?

Do you know how hard it is for me to celebrate my birthday because I was a POW for five of my birthdays and now that disaster happened on my special day. It's not fair for me to have to suffer this memory every year. Especially since I was a POW.

Housing in Chicago is expensive and paying $1 mil.+ is not a huge deal when you take into consideration the lot size, neighborhood, square footage and the fact that it has a front AND back yard. Seriously, McCain just keeps putting his dusty Ferragamos in his mouth with all the housing talk.

103. I've decided elitest
just means smart, educated, and less than all consuming greed to these pricks.

McCain is the son and grandson of Admirals, with an heiress wife, and tens of millions of dollars.

McCain has no more room than a Rockefeller, a Kennedy, a Carnegie, or Paris Hilton to call someone an elitist, he's in the country's equivalent to aristocracy.

The supposed 60% of Americans that feel they can identify with McCain's background are totally delusional and need to be made aware how off base they are.

How big does a house have to be to be a mansion?

How big does the lot have to be?

How luxurious does it have to be?

Obama's place looks big and old, and is probably very nice. But it doesn't sprawl and has very little yard.
