The hidden statistic in having so many houses.
Each of those houses has very expensive furniture, art, probably crystal, silver, china - all the possessions that make for a lavish lifestyle.

Compared to 1 - $1,000,000 house in Chicago. That is upper-medium price range for Chicago and certainly not excessive for a successful man and woman in any larger metropolitan area.

1. The Boston ABC affiliate put a right-wing smear on the story.
Totally took the "how many houses" line into Obama's million dollar home bought from Rezko. Assholes.

2. "Excessive" is a matter of opinion.
To me, $1m for anything is plenty "excessive" and the term "successful" is incredibly problem-laden in and of itself. But hey, that's just me.

I like to apply the "starving child test." Can I justify it to a starving child with a straight face? If not, it's excessive.

3. Does he own a home in D.C or does he rent? Where did the Obama's live
when they went to D.C.?

Just a question of curiosity on that...

But you are right. Obama had success on the book, was a law prof., his wife was a lawyer.. that is the type of home I would expect for them... I don't think too many politicians are living in a ranch home at the end of a cul de sac.
