VA Republicans still BEGGING Obama not to pick Tim Kaine...
Today saw a fresh round of "friendly advice" suggesting Kaine would be a bad pick.

McDonnell questions Kaine's credentials for VP

BY JEFF SHAPIRO

Times-Dispatch Staff Writer

Attorney General Bob McDonnell -- at this point, the likely Republican nominee for governor -- says he does not think Gov. Timothy Kaine has the right stuff to run for vice president.

McDonnell, in a conference call this afternoon orchestrated by the John McCain-for-president campaign, said Democrat Kaine -- on the short list to be Barack Obama's running mate -- also says the No. 2 may not mean much to voters; that their choices ultimately are driven by the top of the ticket.

McDonnell spoke with reporters as Obama moved across southern Virginia in the second day of a swing across a state rated by both parties as tossup this year. Virginia last tipped to a Democrat for president in 1964.

This after, earlier this week, other top state Republicans assembled a press conference where, though they praised Kaine as a Governor and admitted that Kaine would help Obama carry their state, Obama would really be better off with somebody else.

:wtf:

Why do they seem to be scared shitless of Tim Kaine?

4. I know you don't mean that.
But, really, this whole VA Republican "don't pick Kaine" hysteria is pretty funny.

6. I'm almost serious. This is proof that their internals are showing he would win the state
for Obama. Its leads me to believe Kaine's midwest roots may have them scared in places like Ohio and MO

Good point about the internals, too.

9. I don't think it's just his roots in the midwest
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 05:45 PM by DFLforever
It's his genuine, decent, down to earth (midwest?) personality, totally minus any slick, that's going to appeal to many ordinaryDem and Indy voters. Add to that his razor sharp intellect and he's lethal.

I think Kaine would make the 'exotic' Obama look oh so 'normal' to many voters.

The Repubs have been hitting hard on Kaine, including the Rove himself, for a couple of weeks.

10. Kaine brings out the best in Obama, too.
They're so obviously at ease with one another and Kaine really seems to relax Obama. I always seem to find a spontaneous smile on my face when Barack is speaking and Kaine is on the stage.

You've got the tangibles of which states a VP could carry, what kind of experience they bring to the ticket, etc.

But I think those intangibles really count for something too.

5. No "we" mustn't
Especially since "we" are not Obama or his key staff.

Let them make the pick. It will be fine.
