Scratch Kaine and Sebelius
Bold and itals are mine:

Among those rumored to be on Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's short list for vice president have been Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine and And Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

But Texas Democratic Party spokesman Hector Nieto just told me that Kaine has been confirmed to speak to the Texas delegation breakfast next Wednesday and Sebelius is set for Monday.

Highly unlikely that they would be speaking to anything but swing state delegations if they were about to make a running mate's acceptance speech.

Obama is rumored to be leaning toward U.S. Sen. Joe Biden as his running mate.

The other breakfast speakers include Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Tuesday and Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards on Thursday.

Richards, the daughter of the late Gov. Ann Richards, often is rumored to be returning to Texas from Washington to run for statewide office. Perhaps this is a step in that direction.

1. Wow--that is one of the first valid clues I've seen yet. Very telling.

2. Yeah but plans change
I think Obama is pretty good at the fake out, until today everyone thought that Wes Clark was not going to be at the convention. I have no idea who he's going to pick but it's fun watching everyone try to tease it out of every move he makes.

15. He said he was going
after "taking care of something in Europe that could not be rescheduled" I kind of pricked up my ears when I heard that because I've always been a fan of the General and held out some slim hope that he might be the choice.

He's not the best campaigner in the world but I think he could be taught. He's just got to learn to quit apologizing when the RW hacks ask him too.

6. Lieberman is coming back to the fold?
He's seen the writing on the wall has he?

:hide:

Biden would be a damned good pick, great attack VP candidate and scads of foreign policy experience but I think I'd bring a pillow to his speech. If it goes according to history he'll be going for awhile.

potentials were given speaking slots.

that's who my friend keeps telling me it is. I'm not buying it, but I thought I'd throw it out there. CNN did have him on their list.

12. Awful pick
Might help us downballot in Texas, but Chet is the Bluest of Blue Dogs, and his district goes to a Republican if he gives it up.

19. Thanks For That Info
sometimes my buddy gets carried away - Is he a member of the BD's? One of the Salazar brother is, because they have to join clubs and "gangs" - which tells me they are not leaders, but followers.

22. Yes he is
I'll grant that he is in an R+13 district (W's Crawford ranch is in the district, so technically Edwards is Bush's congressman), and that he was one of the only Texas congressmen who survived Tom DeLay's attempts to redistrict him out of his seat.

Having said that, Chet has voted for every Iraq war authorization, including all the funding, he voted for FISA, and on and on it goes ...

23. Actually just about everyone who
is on anyone's short list is already scheduled to speak at the Convention. So, except for the fact that Obama will most likely choose one and only one person to be his running mate, is a re-scheduling of speakers totally out of the question?
