3. Well, technically the bank owns my house..
Because it has lost so much value over the past 5 years I now owe more to the lender than it's worth.

4. It's funny because my son couldn't understand how it's possible to not know how many houses you have
And I asked him to tell me how many pairs of shoes he owns and he told me two. Then I reminded him about his church shoes and his flip flops and that he actually owns four pairs of shoes. He said, "Wow! McCain has more houses than I have shoes." LOL

8. It's complicated.
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 01:44 PM by DefenseLawyer
I mean take for instance, I bought (well my wife bought) two huge luxury condos in Phoenix and tore down the walls between them to make one super massive luxury condo. Now is that one house or two? See? It ain't so simple now! Of course I'm sure you have all had the same dilemma, as have most Americans. Right?

12. It's a long story but not particularly interesting. LOL

My mom passed away, left me her house, and I have an older sister thats been away from the family for about 15 years, so the attorney had been doing what they have to do regarding posting notices etc to find her. There was a little money left in my moms account which was paying the mortgage while it all got sorted out. Once that was gone, another sister agreed to take over the payments and would get the house rather than the family losing it totally. I got in a bind financially several months later and was talking to my sis and she mentioned that I could sell the house. Since I'd been out of the loop on it for so long I'd forgotten that it was still sort of legally mine.

13. Best Guestimate is 0.103
It was 0.197 before the housing crisis, though. The value has gone down considerably.

14. I was once surprised
to find I owned a house I didn't know about.

For some bizarre reason, my mother's lawyer convinced her to put her kids on the deed to her house. She didn't bother telling anybody about this. It took a considerable amount of effort to get everyone off the deed once we found out.
