Did You See the Finances? No Wonder Dropping in the Polls
Speechless. CNN ticker this a.m. Obama spent 53 (or 55)million in the month of July, the highest month of spending so far. Ummm..for what? By contrast, McCain spent 23 million with $2 out of every $3 spent on ads. No wonder the drop in polls. I would like to go on a rant but for what purpose? The financial stats compared to the results in the polls speaks volumes. There are some bad decisions being made.

3. It will be interesting to see what people say to you...
Especially since this was essentially the same criticism lobbed at Senator Clinton during the Primaries...

8. No, the criticism of Hillary was her paying a million bucks a day to buy Penn doughnuts.

4. Most of Obama's money went into organizing on the ground,
opening offices in the states, hiring staff in states, getting ready for GOTV in November.

McCain's money went to Tv ads.

5. Organizing and paying staff members on the ground. This election will be about turnout.
Obama playing chess, McCain playing checkers.

7. patience grasshopper
they are spending heaps of money getting offices set up all over the place. the campaign is set up in many markets that mclane hasnt looked at yet.

they are also setting up one of the largest voter registration effort that has ever been made by a candidate.

just because you cant see the results in the polls this very second, this is laying the groundwork for the next couple of months.

12. McCain has to blow his entire wad before the nomination.
Obama is building ground based infrastructure to GOTV.

You're trying to compare investment strategies here. Advertisements are short term investments and the dividends pay less the longer you go after the payout. Basically, they are designed for a very near term payoff with little staying power. Ground based operations, such as campaign offices and local staff, do not pay off until game day.

Which set of investements are going to pay bigger dividends in November?

16. McCain has spent much more on ads
it has been said over and over in the media. If my understanding of the rules is correct, McCain has to spend all his dow now, because after the convention he only has the 7(8?)5 millions from public financing, so he has no incentive to save now. O on the other hand can use his money, current and future, when he deems best. McCain is splurging now, but things will look differently in a couple of weeks.

18. How about opening campaign offices and registering voters?
Not good enough for you?

How about we run ads in September and October when they'll be much fresher in people's minds come election day? Is that cool? Will you sign off on that, boss?

19. The election is in November
Neither campaign can move the finish line up from where it is. I know the media loves talking about the national race, but that is a useless metric at this point in the game.

Maybe a Black Man running for president has to pay twice as much to stay in the game,
considering he is running against a GRAND FATHERLY wrinkled old white guy.
