(7) McCain signed that death warrant for any and all living US POW-MIAs in VIET NAM by normalizing relations.

(8) McCain was heavily involved in the Keating 5.

(9) McCain did nothing about Clinton’s Treason of selling NUKES to the Chinese for ten million in illegal Communist Chinese Campaign money... Even though he was in the unique position to do something about it as the Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee.

(10) McCain’s so-called “Campaign Finance Reform” Bill is totally unconstitutional and would stop free speech..... even religious speech!

Dude did twenty combat hours. He acts like he was in the trenches day and night for years before being captured. In actuality, he's such an incompetent, inept fuck that he found a way to get himself captured in just twenty hours. He was singing like a bird and giving his captors everything they wanted within a day or two. He lied about the cross in the sand story, and he also lied about letting other people go before him. It's all bullshit. He's a privileged daddy's boy who had strings pulled for him every step of the way, including during his time as "POW."

Stockdale and others led opposition that showed a gradation of heroism and resistance to torture that varied greatly. Probably few POW's would blame any of their number for any behavior. All were broken to some degree. Luckily, Stockdale(now deceased ridiculed Perot running mate) held the line at the innocuous stuff which the interrogators stuck with in their gradual breakdown system. In a sign of defeated frustration Stockdale was beaten by one chief interrogator who openly accused him of setting back the program for weeks.

Now swiftboating has a habit of laying on the tar too liberally. The real heroes in the POW community were those who enabled effective resistance and support of the group. In that class McCain may have not exactly been a star anymore than a flying ace or college student- or Senator for that matter. The truth is that the claims of heroism and respect have pushed this equal reaction. A real story or complaint is within the more insidious hints of extra favoritism or betrayal. Those would be much more important. The rest is a tug of war over "honors" in which McCain plainly did not excel even if he cannot automatically be blamed for talking. He definitely gave over a lot more than the Stockdale group. How he related to that support group would also be more interesting than the simple fact he broke(likely at a much earlier stage than Stockdale). The code of honor within the POW community normally would be closing ranks around all their members and condemning no one. McCain has pushed that far beyond the limit and even betrayed it personally in carrying Bush I administration water against the MIA vets.
