John McCain's story about tricking Vietcong to store stolen gold in his prison camp may not be true.
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 08:36 PM by IanDB1
According to an interview John McCain gave Fox News last week, McCain claims that while he was a POW, the North Vietnamese had stolen a shipment of gold from the French. McCain says he convinced the commander of the POW camp to store the gold with McCain and his men.

However, no such story exists in any of McCain's autobiographies.

And last month, McCain told a Town Hall Meeting in Ohio that he once tricked the Vietcong into giving him the plans for a new North Vietnamese airplane with a silent engine by convincing one of the guards that he was psychic.

And in another instance, McCain also claims he once tricked that same guard (again!) with the "psychic powers schtick, to convince him to relocate some anti-aircraft guns.

And this morning, McCain said that he once helped a fellow prisoner escape from the POW camp with a hot air balloon.

Considering that McCain got his story about the cross in the dirt from either "The Gulag Archipelago" or "Demetrius and the Gladiators," where do we think McCain got THESE stories from?

And do John and Cindy McCain sit around at night eating live kittens while trying to out-invent one another with tall tales of meeting Mother Teresa, and of falsely claiming to be an only child?

4. So many lies, so little time to expose them all. It seems that Kissinger
refused to release McCain, not McCain performing a selfless act. Admiral McCain, John's father, thanked Kissinger for protecting his own reputation.
Cindy McCain never met Mother Teresa, despite the story told by Cindy about how she adopted her daughter.

11. I think it's time for pundits to start wondering aloud whether McCain is too 'confused' to be POTUS
He can't remember who we're fighting in Iraq or the time line of the war, he doesn't know how many houses he owns, he confuses movie and book plots with his own war experience, he is given to lashing out in fits of irrational rage...

Yes, I think it's about time the punditry starts questioning whether or not it's safe to let someone like John McCain have access to nuclear launch codes. Of course, no one should outright suggest that he is spiraling into senility. Oh no. But the question needs to be asked. And asked. And asked.
