So what area does Hillary shore up for Obama?
Where will she help with voter demographics?

Young voters? Nope.

White men? Nope.

Working class men? Nope.

Progressives? Nope.

Older white women? She could have an impact but Obama is already leading this group (leading women quite handily).

Hispanics? Maybe.

When you also factor in her low fav/unfav numbers and her being from completely safe blue state and I do not see an advantage to bringing Hillary in as VP

4. VP candidates are supposed to augment the nominee and I just don't see it with her.
Clinton/Obama ticket could have been interesting in terms of his organization and ability to stump and connect with young voters being added to her strengths.

But the reverse just has too many liabilities with little potential.

13. Couldnt agree more
Not to mention we now have to defend Bills earnings for the next three months instead of tearing up mcsame.

Hillary by herself might work I think it might be an even trade off with just her, maybe even a small net positive add bill in though and it goes negative pretty quickly IMHO.

14. You said it even better.
The fight isn't worth it if she's not the Prez.

8. More like 4.5 million with some of those being admitted GOPers who won't vote for a Dem in Nov.
Obama gets about 75% of Hillary voters now.

Once the convention is over, more of those will swing to Obama as they realize their holding out for Hillary has come to an end.

6. rinsd, I am proud to call you a fellow Democrat
Though we had our differences in the Primaries, you have proven yourself to be more concerned about the future of this Nation than the fate of your original candidate.

I regret ever viewing you through the same lens as some of the others who support her.

You know how much this Election really means.
Thank you for that.

9. It's the fear of the "18 million" - a mantra we have courtesy of HRC herself
Apparently there's this unknown "cloud" of voters who just might throw their support to McCain if she's not on the ticket, causing the Democrats to lose.

Since no one is sure how many that is, apparently the safe bet is to put her on the ticket so they'll all be happy and vote Democratic.

I don't buy it. Factor out Democrats who know they'll be in deep shit if McCain gets in, factor out the Operation Chaos vote, and factor out the racist dead-enders who won't vote for Obama under any circumstances, and I think Obama can compensate for the toxic holdouts with his superior GOTV ground game.

12. Hillary is pretty popular in the Hispanic community.
Not sure if she would have a large impact but I don't want to dismiss her cache with that demographic.

She did surprisingly poorly with Hispanics. I thought she was supposed to do so well with them, but the turnout was dismal.

Quite aside from the fact that the two probably don't much like each other.

I think we all agree that whoever the VP choice is needs to be a fighter not a panderer.
